The campsites in Macedonia on Lake Ohrid are located on one of the oldest bodies of water in the world. In summer, swimmers flock to the beaches, while canoe and kayak tours are also popular leisure activities. The town of Ohrid, which, like the lake, has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is idyllically situated on a hill. One of its architectural jewels is the Church of St John Kaneo, which overlooks the lake from a hill. The Sveti Naum monastery is also worth a visit: the monastery church is adorned with many frescoes and the park is a place of tranquillity. From the campsites around Skopje, it's off to the fascinating capital: the Old Bazaar makes holidaymakers feel like they're in the Orient. The city's landmark, the impressive stone bridge over the Vardar, can even be seen on the city's coat of arms.
