Almost white sand awaits guests camping on the beach in Corsica at the popular bathing bays in the north and east. However, the French Mediterranean island is also known for its kitesurfing and windsurfing spots. Especially in spring and autumn, when the vegetation is in its colourful splendour, active people enjoy exploring the hilly landscape on foot.
Beaches for families and water sports enthusiasts as well as fantastic hiking trails await guests camping on the beach in Corsica.
Thanks to the Mediterranean climate on the coast, Corsica has ideal weather for swimming from June to October. The water in the Mediterranean is particularly warm in midsummer at 24 degrees. This is when families love travelling to a campsite on the beach in Corsica to spend carefree days by the sea. Due to the gently sloping shore, the north coast is particularly popular with guests with children. Calvi, for example, has a 5-kilometre-long sandy bay. Explorers and nature lovers are drawn to the almost snow-white beach of Saleccia in the north, which can only be reached via an unsurfaced road through the Agreaten Desert, a nature reserve. Due to the good wind conditions, water sports enthusiasts can be found on the west coast. Algajola beach, for example, is a popular surfing spot. Kitesurfers will find a paradise in Palombaggia in the south. The coastal region is located south of Porto Vecchio.
Corsica also has a lot to offer active travellers on land: Hikers like to travel in spring, when the Mediterranean maquis bathes the island in a sea of flowers. Ambitious hikers are attracted by the more than 70 peaks in the hinterland and on the coast. In the west, for example, Calvi's local mountain, Capu di a Veta, which is just over 700 m high, invites you to enjoy panoramic tours. Early risers like to climb the mountain early to experience the breathtaking sunrise over the sea from the summit. Nature lovers can also discover the charming island on individual stages of the 180 km GR20 long-distance hiking trail from Calenzana in the north-west to Conza in the south. Fitness is required for the sometimes steep climbs of up to 2,400 metres.
The interesting events in Corsica are popular meeting places for locals and guests.
