Camping in the Baltic States is guaranteed to offer the right thing for every holiday requirement. Bathers, for example, are drawn to the dream beaches of the Curonian Spit north of the Lithuanian city of Klaipėda. There are also numerous family-friendly campsites on the Latvian coast near the capital Riga and the spa town of Jūrmala. Culture lovers can combine a holiday in the fresh air with sightseeing tours of Estonia's medieval centre at the campsites in the Baltic States near Talinn.

Special features of camping in the Baltic States

In each of the three Baltic countries, holidaymakers can enjoy unforgettable stays close to the capital cities. When camping in Vilnius, guests stay by the picturesque River Neris or near the beautiful city park Vingio parkas. You can get to know Estonia's Tallinn from the campsites in the Baltic States near the city centre or the harbour town of Pirita. Riga is easy to explore from the campsites on the River Duna.

Popular campsites in the Baltic States are booked by nature lovers and hikers in the Gauja National Park in Latvia, which stretches from Valmiera to Murjāņi. Families with children and beach holidaymakers, on the other hand, are drawn to the Curonian Spit in Lithuania or the west coast of Latvia, where mighty sand dunes pile up near Bernati. The Estonian coast and the country's largest island, Saaremaa, also offer camping in beautiful natural surroundings.

Weather

Due to its location in north-east Europe, spring in the Baltic states starts later than in other countries at the end of March. The days get longer in April and Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are in full bloom. It is also much drier than in winter. It is still warm enough for hikes and city tours in autumn, although showers can occur from time to time.

The air warms up to 30 degrees Celsius in midsummer. Even on hot days, a dip in the Baltic Sea in the marvellous coastal resorts remains refreshing with a water temperature of around 17 degrees Celsius. You can look forward to bright nights when camping in the Baltic States in July and August, when the sun doesn't set until around 10 pm.
