The town is picturesquely situated between Lakes Thun and Brienz and offers a variety of leisure activities with its art centre and casino. Best time to visit

When most campsites on Lake Brienz open in March or April, the hiking weather is already at its best with temperatures of up to 15 degrees Celsius. In September and October, active holidaymakers can also enjoy climbing or mountain biking in the beautiful mountains of the Bernese Oberland. Autumn also has the lowest average annual rainfall. June to August are recommended as the best time for a beach holiday. This is when the air warms up to a maximum average of 24 degrees Celsius. The water is refreshingly cool at an average of 20 degrees Celsius. Although there are frequent showers in midsummer, the sun shines for a very long time - seven to eight hours.
