The idyllic location of the fairly simple site in the natural woodland and heathland of the New Forest National Park allows for observing wild animals, including horses (guided tours with a ranger are offered).
The National Park (26,000 ha) is owned by the Crown and extends southwest of Southampton to the coast. Information about other camping facilities in the park is also available directly at this campsite.

Pitch sites mostly on larger clearings in the forest, some also under denser deciduous trees and old oaks. Adjacent to railway line (lightly used at night).
Please pay close attention to the special regulations for staying in the National Park.
In the New Forest National Park, there are nine other campsites, mostly natural and spacious facilities. Campsites with sanitary facilities (including hot showers) include: Holmsley Campsite, also on the A35, around 11 km southwest of Lyndhurst; Hollands Wood Campsite near Brockenhurst east of the A337; Roundhill Campsite, around 3 km east of Brockenhurst; and Ocknell Campsite (no showers) in the village of the same name. Campsites without sanitary facilities (accessible only to campers with their own cassettes toilet) are Aldridge Hill Campsite and Setthorns Campsite near Brockenhurst on the A337; Longbeech Campsite near Stoney Cross on the A31; and Wood Campsite in Matley and Denny Wood Campsite near Lyndhurst. Food supplies in the park are the responsibility of the camper (excluding Holmsley). The main town in the area is Lyndhurst on the A35 (Southampton - Bournemouth).
