Campsite Korana

The Korana campsite is just a quarter of an hour's drive from the Plitvice Lakes National Park, which was one of the first natural monuments to be awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. The park is one of the most popular excursion destinations for camping guests. The water-rich region also offers many attractive leisure activities outside the national park, so that families, nature lovers and their four-legged companions can look forward to a fulfilling holiday.

Green camping landscape at the Korana Gorge

On entering the Korana campsite, the first thing that strikes you is the vastness of the area: 35 hectares of gently rolling meadows, interspersed with bushes and tall trees, invite you to enjoy a relaxing holiday. In addition to 525 pitches with electricity, 47 bungalows, each with two single beds, a table and wardrobe, also offer overnight accommodation for non-campers. All guests have access to modern sanitary facilities with a washroom as well as wash and shower cubicles - also barrier-free. Washing machines, dishwashing sinks and a supply and disposal station for motorhomes are also part of the site's facilities. WLAN is available in the reception and restaurant areas as well as in the internet corner. A short walk with panoramic views over the lush green hilly landscape leads to the campsite's catering facilities. Close to the reception, the restaurant, a coffee bar, a camping shop and a barbecue area for self-catering guests guarantee a good meal and a sociable get-together. In the morning, a varied breakfast buffet is served in the bright dining room. A bus transfer to the Plitvice Lakes is part of the campsite's service, which is fully geared towards visitors to the national park. While the Veliki Slap - at 87 metres the highest waterfall in Plitvice Lakes - and other waterfalls greet you at the lower entrance to the national park, the visit begins at the upper entrance with a short shuttle boat trip across one of the crystal-clear lakes.

The ideal region for discovering nature

Around the village of Čatrnja and the Korana campsite, the region is characterised by small villages and lush green river and hilly landscapes, which are ideal for skiing and tobogganing in winter. A 2 km hiking trail leads directly from the campsite through the Korana Gorge to Drežnik with its 11th century fortress. From here, it is another 10 km to the legendary Barać dripstone caves. The Korana River itself captivates visitors with the beauty of its numerous waterfalls and many bathing opportunities - the river water is up to 28 degrees Celsius in places in summer. There are also wonderful fly fishing spots in the region. 25 kilometres north of Čatrnja, where the Korana joins the Slunjčica River, lies Rastoke, a historic mill village full of gurgling streams, bubbling cascades and rushing waterfalls.
