Camping Alkenhaer is located on the edge of the village of Appelscha in the middle of a rural setting in Friesland. The village centre with its shops is around 1 km away on foot. Numerous hedges and shady trees parcel out the meadow pitches on the campsite. The site is a central starting point for excursions into the Drents-Friese Wold National Park, which is only around 10 kilometres away. The national park is one of the largest forest areas in the Netherlands and offers a wide range of hiking opportunities. As a special feature, guests at Camping Alkenhaer can use the outdoor swimming pool in Appelscha, about 1 km away, free of charge.
