Camping Balmweid is a family-friendly campsite on the outskirts of Meiringen in the canton of Bern. As a nature campsite, it impresses with its lush green grounds and fantastic views of the mountains of the Bernese Oberland.
A lush tree population turns the campsite in Balmweid into a green oasis. There are sunny pitches in small clearings on the predominantly flat and partly stepped meadow terrain. There are also tree-lined pitches with shade and a completely natural screen for extra privacy on a camping holiday with the family. A scenic highlight is the direct view of a small waterfall from the pitch. The high treetops also provide a view of the alpine peaks of the Bernese Oberland. Young guests can look forward to a playground and a water playground. Guests can buy small snacks at the campsite's own kiosk. The sociable meeting place is the restaurant, where you can quickly socialise with other campsite guests over regional cuisine. Those who wish can take advantage of the bread roll service for breakfast in the morning. The site also has a lounge for cosy get-togethers with new camping friends.
Camping Balmweid is an attractive starting point for nature-loving excursions on an active camping holiday with the whole family. The surrounding area boasts spectacular waterfalls such as the Falcherenbach Falls and the Reichenbach Falls. The river Aare runs alongside the campsite, separated only by the riverside road, with a riverside path for cycling, long walks and jogging tours. It is 2 km to the centre of Meiringen on the other side of the river, with shopping facilities and restaurants as well as interesting destinations such as the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Camping guests receive a free public transport ticket for the journey there. There is a bus stop directly in front of the campsite. In Meiringen itself, you can set off for other destinations from Meiringen railway station - with connections to regional transport. The ruins of Resti Castle are a popular attraction. The gondola takes you from Meiringen up to the Hasliberg with plenty of hiking opportunities for every sporting ambition. As dogs are very welcome at the Balmweid campsite, it is a popular destination for camping with dogs and many joint hiking tours in the Bernese Oberland. The campsite is just 10 kilometres from Lake Brienz with its bathing opportunities and long walks along the shore. The lakeside town of Interlaken is 25 kilometres away and is the closest town to the campsite.
