Camping Eichholz shows how a city break can be combined with a holiday in the great outdoors. It is located in the south-east of Bern in a quiet location directly on the River Aare.
Camping Eichholz impresses with its quiet yet central location. Holidaymakers can reach Bern city centre in less than 10 minutes by bike and around half an hour on foot. The campsite is located on the south bank of the River Aare directly opposite Bern Zoo. Holidaymakers can reach the exciting leisure paradise after a 15-minute walk. The zoo is divided into two parts: Dählhölzli is home to eagle owls, seals, monkeys and other animals. The bear park is located right on the banks of the River Aare. Visitors can watch the big brown giants in a species-appropriate environment while enjoying a perfect view of Bern's old town. Culture vultures use Camping Eichholz as a starting point for exploring the Swiss capital. During a stroll through the centre, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one sight follows the next. The houses in the medieval centre have been lovingly restored. Some of the arcades house shops. One of the landmarks is the Zytglogge, a mechanical clock tower with an elaborately designed façade. A play of figures can be seen every hour on the hour. Those who climb the 130 steps inside the tower are rewarded with a magnificent view of the city. Bern Minster, which is adorned with beautiful stained glass windows, is also worth a visit.
The friendly staff at Camping Eichholz welcome holidaymakers on arrival. Many guests leave their car or motorhome at the campsite for the duration of their stay. After all, it is so conveniently located that many sights can be reached on foot. What's more, the Bern-Ticket is included in the price of the pitch. This gives guests free travel on public transport. Winter operation begins in October. During this time, holidaymakers can check in themselves. A service station is available all year round. Here they can dispose of waste water and refuel with fresh water. During the warmer months of the year, guests like to stop off at the Eichholz restaurant for breakfast in the morning. At other times of the day, there are dishes from all over the world and pizza, which are served on the terrace or in the restaurant. Families feel at home on the well-tended meadows of the campsite. A playground with wooden equipment provides variety.
With its quiet location, Camping Eichholz is perfect for a city trip to Bern. You can hear the Aare flowing past from the pitches. When the weather is nice, people like to meet up on the banks to relax.
