The idyllic Camping La Chapoulière campsite is located in the middle of a quiet bend in the Ardèche river. Bathing enthusiasts don't have to choose between nature and comfort here - the gently sloping riverbanks and the campsite's own spacious swimming pool offer refreshment. And after an adventurous canoe trip with the family through the Ardèche Gorge, you can relax in the awning with a glass of French red wine.
Camping La Chapoulière is located in the green Ardèche river valley, around 2.5 kilometres from the small town of Ruoms. The 164 grass and sand pitches are between 70 and 150 m² in size and each one has a guaranteed power supply via a CEE socket. Everything you need for supplying motorhomes, including emptying cassette toilets, is available on site. The small shop at the campsite covers the basic needs - from fresh baguettes in the morning to the local newspaper and filling the gas bottle. Holidaymakers can find everything else they need in the supermarket in nearby Ruoms. Two stretches of beach totalling 500 m along the riverbank - one of grass, the other of sand - offer space for swimming and relaxing in the midst of nature. Alternatively, there is a well-kept pool with a separate children's area, which is also heated on cooler days. A special feature of the campsite is its own spa area with whirlpool, hammam and numerous massage offers. And those who don't want to miss out on fitness on holiday can use the sports room with modern cross trainers and weight bench. During the high season in July and August, a wide-ranging entertainment programme is offered daily. This includes entertaining games and adventurous excursions for children and teenagers as well as fun karaoke and dance evenings for the whole family.
There is a canoe hire service directly at the campsite for those who want to explore the varied river landscape. One of the highlights of the trip along the white limestone cliffs of the canyon is the Pont dArc, a 60 metre long and 54 metre high natural stone bridge around 13 km downstream. If you prefer cycling to canoeing, take the panoramic road with numerous viewpoints along the Gorges de lArdeche, the last third of the river valley. Other attractions in the region are the mysterious caves, such as the Aven d'Orgnac, a huge stalactite cave that can be visited, and the Chauvet Cave with its cave paintings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The French Mediterranean coast and the Camargue are just a two-hour drive from Camping La Chapoulière - ideal for a day trip.
