Camping la Durance in Cavaillon, France, near Avignon, is ideal for fascinating excursions into the historic surroundings.
The site is located just outside the town, close to the river Durance. Most of the pitches on the campsite are surrounded by hedges, so you can enjoy your privacy. The comfortable mobile homes are equipped with a kitchen, bathroom and some have air conditioning.
There is an outdoor swimming pool right next to the campsite, which is open in July and August, and an indoor pool 2 kilometres away, which is easily accessible in bad weather. There is a playground for children. Wi-Fi reception is available throughout the site. A supermarket is just a few minutes' walk away, as is a good restaurant.
There are interesting sights to discover in Cavaillon. The town, which was alternately Greek, Roman and an episcopal town in the Middle Ages, is home to numerous sights in its centre: a cathedral, a synagogue with unique Provençal architecture, and the Hotel Agar, a private villa built on the site of the Roman baths, with a Renaissance-style ceiling, which now houses an exhibition of paintings by the famous Caravaggio. Traces of the past can still be found all over the city.
