Camping Olhão

Camping Olhão welcomes its guests near Faro on the dunes at the edge of a pine forest, typical of the Portuguese Algarve or Sand Algarve. Thanks to its charming location on the sandy beach, the campsite also offers nature lovers the perfect starting point for experiences in a wide range of completely different natural areas.

Camping with pool and by the sea

From Camping Olhão, it is only a very short journey to Faro, the largest city in southern Portugal. The campsite itself is located in a picturesque region characterised by the Ria Formosa nature reserve and the rugged coastline of the Gulf of Cádiz. It is only a short ferry ride to the island of "Ilha da Armona", which attracts visitors with its beautiful sandy beaches. The campsite itself is located at the foothills of the pine forest and offers 700 pitches, some of which are shaded by trees, others sunny. This means that there is a pitch to suit every preference. The site also has its own pool where visitors can relax or swim a few lengths. The facilities also include a children's pool, which reflects the family-friendly attitude of the site. To ensure that there is plenty of variety during the holidays, professional entertainers ensure a good atmosphere and offer a varied entertainment and sports programme. The latter is organised on the Olhão campsite's tennis court and multipurpose sports field - although the courts can also be used privately. The service staff speak Portuguese, English and German. Holidaymakers particularly appreciate the campsite's restaurant, where they can sample Portuguese dishes.

The Ria Formosa nature reserve

The coast near Olhão is characterised by the advanced lagoon, which is part of the Ria Formosa nature reserve. With a total area of around 170 km², this nature reserve is one of the largest protected areas in the whole of Europe, an important stopover for migratory birds in particular and therefore also popular with birdwatchers. On the other side of the campsite, the pine forest is ideal for long walks to discover the nature of the interior. In addition to the natural beauty of southern Portugal, exciting towns such as Olhão itself or neighbouring Faro can also be visited. Incidentally, Faro is home to one of the stadiums of the 2004 European Football Championship, which is now used by Gibraltar's national team as its home stadium
