Surrounded by greenery and hills and only marginally touched by civilisation, the Orta campsite is a magical, unspoilt spot right on Lake Orta. Pure relaxation awaits nature lovers in comfortable rental accommodation and spacious pitches.
A green barrier of hills separates the natural idyll of Lake Orta from the much larger Lake Maggiore to the east. Nevertheless, it can be reached in just twenty minutes by car from Verbania. Its western shore is steep and untamed, while on the eastern shore, 1.5 km from the fairytale town of Orta San Giulio on a little-used coastal road, the Orta campsite welcomes families, nature lovers and individual travellers on a tree-shaded 3.5 hectare site directly on the lake. There are 80 pitches and 18 rental accommodations. The site is open from March to December and has a grocery shop, snack bar and restaurant. Children can have fun in the children's playground, but will also love the 10 metre long pebble beach with sunbathing area and bathing platform. There is a boat slip for launching your own boats into the water. Skippers can also use a jetty with moorings. Dogs are of course allowed. The public bus stops just 100 metres from the campsite. Guests can walk to Orta San Giulio and visit Piazza Mario Motta, which is surrounded by historic patrician houses. The Palazzo della Comunità is worth a visit for its murals. Boats regularly set sail for the picturesque Isola San Giulio, which is completely covered in old buildings. In the north of the lake near Omegna, the Alessi outlet shop offers designer kitchenware.
