Pure nature and camping in a class of its own: that's exactly what holidaymakers will find at this beautiful campsite on the southern shore of Lake Bannwaldsee within sight of the world-famous royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The great location in the middle of the nature reserve and the varied leisure programme make the Bannwaldsee campsite one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Allgäu.
Surrounded by a fairytale landscape of mountains, lakes and castles, the Bannwaldsee campsite in the village of Schwangau is located around 7 kilometres from the town of Füssen and around 10 kilometres from the Austrian border on the shores of the natural lake of the same name. The 650 well-kept pitches for motorhomes and caravans are located on a meadow area between the lake and the road, which will delight nature lovers with its contrasting location between the crystal-clear waters and the wooded Allgäu Alps. All pitches have electricity and water supply as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the site. The modern sanitary facilities offer hot water in the showers and washrooms at no extra charge. Campers travelling by motorhome can simply park their vehicle on the pitches in the motorhome park. The supply columns offer a 16 amp power supply, fresh water connection and a waste water connection. Motorhome owners also have free access to the bathing beach and leisure lake. Those not travelling with a motorhome or caravan can spend their holiday in the cosy and fully equipped holiday flats with their own kitchen, bathroom, WC and satellite TV instead. It's even cosier in the rustic rental caravan for up to 5 people. The wooden camping barrels with space for three to four people also exude a particularly romantic holiday flair.
Families with children appreciate the extensive leisure programme at the campsite, as do couples and older motorhome drivers who enjoy a quiet camping holiday. The family-friendly campsite has its own playground and offers childcare during the summer months. Guests can join organised cycling and hiking tours or hire bikes, kettcars, rowing boats or pedal boats on their own and discover the beautiful natural landscapes of the Oberallgäu by water or on land. The children's entertainment team keeps the youngest guests entertained with children's lessons, torchlight parades, carriage rides to feed the wild animals or horse-drawn sleigh rides. Older holiday guests can join organised cycling and hiking tours or hire bicycles, kettcars, rowing boats or pedal boats on their own and discover the wonderful natural landscapes of the Oberallgäu by water or on land. Other leisure activities include the extensive range of winter sports on offer during the cold season, fishing or the regular live concerts. Many events take place in the rustic Bannwaldsee-Stadl with an original Bavarian traditional costume group and alphorn players. There is a beer garden atmosphere here all year round and the cuisine with hearty Bavarian fare is excellent. Of course, you can also simply relax at the Bannwaldsee campsite. The site on the southern shore of the Bannwaldsee has a fantastic natural beach and a spacious bathing jetty. Dog owners also feel at home at the Bannwaldsee campsite: there is a bathing area for dogs just 500 metres from the site, and the lakeside paths invite you to take long walks.
Clear mountain lakes, breathtaking mountain panoramas, castles and forests straight out of a fairy tale: Holiday dreams come true in the picturesque landscape of the Oberallgäu. Active holidaymakers can take advantage of the Nordic walking courses organised by the campsite operator or hop on a bike. The circuit around the lake is 17 kilometres long and offers fantastic views of the Ammergebirge mountains. By bike or car, guests can reach the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle in just 6.5 kilometres - Bavaria's most famous sight is within sight of the campsite. The mighty complex on the Pöllat Gorge in Hohenschwangau fascinates thousands of visitors from all over the world every year with its numerous towers and magnificent rooms such as the gold-clad throne room. Another excursion tip for families is the Schwangau summer toboggan run on the Tegelberg, just 4 km away, with numerous bends and a length of 760 metres. Here you will also find the remains of a Roman bath, which can still be admired today. The royal Kristall-Therme spa at the Schwanau spa gardens, on the other hand, offers real bathing fun. In addition to the fantastic sauna world, the wellness centre also has a whirlpool, various sauna rooms and relaxation areas and a Turkish bath. The Bannwaldsee campsite is open all year round: While hiking, swimming and cycling dominate the holiday programme in summer, in winter guests use the well-kept facilities as a starting point for alpine skiing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing tours. In cold temperatures, you can also go ice skating on the lake or take a horse-drawn sleigh ride. On the nearby Tegelberg, seven kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes await winter sports enthusiasts.
