Good place for excursions in the region
Well-maintained place with a direct location by the Ruhr. A great location for cyclists. Very good Italian restaurant on site. The sanitary facilities are very well kept. In the rear section, the adjacent dog boarding is quite disturbing and there is also aircraft noise. Recommended for a short stay… More

The KNAUS Campingpark Essen-Werden is mainly visited by city tourists who want to get to know the beautiful city of Essen, the self-confident metropolis of the Ruhr area. This classic campsite is picturesquely surrounded by woods and located directly on the banks of the Ruhr, with the city centre of Essen-Werden just one kilometre away.
If you are looking for the perfect symbiosis of nature experience and urban charm, the Essen-Werden camping park is the place for you. The elongated site gently stretches along the banks of the Ruhr, with imposing giant trees providing shade and blending in perfectly with the wooded ambience that surrounds the camping park. But the vibrant life beyond the trees can also be felt from afar. It enlivens the park in Löwental, where young people meet to skate, and is also noticeable at the spacious sports facilities, which are located in the immediate vicinity of the camping park. Various restaurants, grocery shops and other shops are also just a few steps away. But if you fancy authentic Italian delicacies in Essen-Werden, make a pilgrimage to the trattoria in the camping park, where you can dine in the spirit of the dolce vita. Of course, the camping park, which is open all year round, also serves fresh breakfast rolls every day. Theoretically, a well-behaved dog could also pick them up, as pets are also welcome here. It's quite possible that one of the four-legged permanent campers already has this in their repertoire! If you are not travelling with your own motorhome or caravan, you can of course also rent one of the mobile homes or stay overnight in a camping barrel.
Centrally located and yet so close to nature - that's what makes the KNAUS Campingpark Essen-Werfen so popular with holiday guests and permanent campers. After a good night's sleep, it's time to explore the city centre. The nearby S-Bahn takes you to the city centre, but also to surrounding towns such as Bottrop or Bochum. If you don't want to concentrate so much on sacred buildings and architecture, but want to give children and dogs a treat, visit the famous Grugapark, which is one of the largest and most beautiful city parks in Germany with its almost 70 hectares - themed gardens, bird observatory, glass pyramids and many other attractions await. For the young and young at heart, a visit to the Legoland Discovery Centre is certainly a real must and absolutely unforgettable. Magical views can also be enjoyed on a cruise on Lake Baldeney, the city's local recreation area. If you set sail on the "White Fleet", you can see famous sights from the waterfront. Musicals and theatre performances are also particularly popular in Essen, highlighting the art-loving lifestyle of the people of Essen.
At KNAUS Campingpark Essen-Werden, families with dogs feel particularly at home. Young people are well catered for with plenty of leisure activities, while adults can indulge in their economic and cultural preferences. The events of the day can be recalled over dinner with good food and tasty refreshments.
