Just 20 kilometres from the Dutch border, KNAUS Campingpark Meppen combines nature experiences and urban highlights. Located directly on the River Ems, water fun and river experiences await, while the centre of Meppen is within easy walking distance.
It is the proximity to the town's central leisure facilities that integrates Campingpark Meppen so harmoniously into this natural setting. Because man's best friend is also allowed to swim in the river, Campingpark Meppen is a little paradise for four-legged friends. While some parents indulge in the thoughtful tranquillity of fishing and children compete in canoeing, others dreamily admire the noble four-legged friends in the nearby horse pasture. Wonderful aromas waft from the communal barbecue area and the covered cooking facilities can also be used free of charge. If you don't feel like cooking yourself, you can treat yourself at the snack bar or restaurant on the grounds of the Meppen camping park. The immediate proximity to the town centre naturally provides easy access to the town's restaurants and lovingly maintained cultural facilities. Campingpark Meppen is a real highlight, especially for the masters and mistresses of beloved pets. The four-legged friends and their two-legged families are accommodated in an area set up especially for them. While dogs must be kept on a lead at the campsite, they can play and romp to their heart's content by the river - after which they have their own dog shower.
The enchanting town of Meppen lies south of the confluence of the Ems and Hase rivers. Even in ancient times, places like this were considered sacred. So it is no wonder that settlements already existed here in the Palaeolithic Age. Just 50 m from the camping park is the Emsbad Meppen, which also includes an outdoor pool, indoor pool, steam bath, skate park and youth centre. Today, the Ems is mainly used for boat trips, bathing fun and long walks along the banks with or without dogs. Nature lovers can take long walks through the nearby Bourtanger Nature Park, where there are many rare animal and plant species to marvel at. The Bargerveen moor was once part of the largest closed moor landscape in Western Europe. This little oasis for camping enthusiasts fulfils a surprising number of unspoken wishes - it has its own jetty, a natural river landscape with a beach, a direct link to the Emsland Route cycling experience and close proximity to Meppen town centre. Theatre lovers will find just as much to enjoy here as visitors to museums, churches and historical architecture. Meppen's landmark in particular, the town hall built from boulders in 1408, is an urban jewel in a class of its own. If you want to combine nature and culture on a camping holiday in the most uncomplicated way, you should definitely settle down at the KNAUS Campingpark Meppen for a holiday that is as relaxed as it is inspiring. If you don't have a mobile snail shell, you can rent one of the six mobile homes to enjoy the advantages of this area to the full.
