Attractions and hiking trails in the maritime nature reserve

In the Bassin d'Arcachon, it is possible to try out a variety of water sports. Various types of sailing boats, surfing equipment, stand-up paddle boards and kayaks are available for hire. Diving in the inland sea allows you to observe seahorses, colourful snails and waving anemone gardens. Excursions by bike or boat to the Landes de Gascogne Nature Park are also worthwhile. At low tide, guided tours are organised to the Île aux Oiseaux. This protected island is a fertile wetland biotope and birdwatchers can spot kingfishers, black-tailed godwits, short-eared owls and little egrets, among others. At the southern end of the peninsula, where the Atlantic Ocean flows into the bay, is the Pointe du Cap Ferret. A coastal nature trail with 26 interesting information boards runs through its extensive beach and dune landscape.
