ExceptionalLocated in Eastern Europe, the Czech Republic is nestled between Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia. In the region of South Bohemia, in the south of the Czech Republic, holidaymakers can relax on walks in the Bohemian Forest or in the extraordinary primeval forest area near Kubany Mountain. In Prague, you can stroll from the famous Prague Castle to Charles Bridge, enjoy the murmur of the Vltava and stroll on into the historic Old Town. Further east, to the north of Brno, you can explore the Moravian Karst - a low mountain range landscape with over 1,000 caves. The Krkonoše Mountains with the Karkonoski Park Narodowy are perfect for a camping holiday. Family camps, comfort pitches and huts as comfortable accommodation await their guests. Spindleruv Mlyn is the best-known destination in the area. Wellness and relaxation take centre stage when camping in Franzensbad in the West Bohemian spa triangle.
Many vast forest areas invite you to go hiking and cycling in the Czech Republic, but nature lovers will get their money's worth in South Bohemia in particular: there are numerous nature reserves here, such as Třeboňsko and the Šumava National Park. Campers in this region will enjoy the impressive landscape and the wonderful lakes, where swimmers, sailors and windsurfers pursue their passion. Culture lovers can choose a campsite in Prague and explore the charming city in more detail. Those who prefer to spend their holiday in a caravan in more rural surroundings but still sometimes want the hustle and bustle of the big city should choose a campsite near the capital. This way you can take advantage of the soothing natural surroundings and at the same time be in Prague in no time for a cultural day trip or two.
Camping holidays are very popular in our neighbouring country. Many sites have beautiful pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents. The country's comfort campsites also offer cabins as accommodation for all campers without their own vehicle. Long-term camping is very popular depending on the location.
The car camp on the Lipno reservoir has around 500 metres of shoreline with several bathing areas, which campers naturally like to use, especially as the adjacent sunbathing lawn offers plenty of space. The rather functional facilities take a back seat to the campsite's beautiful location.
The Krkonoše Mountains are one of the most popular destinations for campers. Špindlerův Mlýn (Spindleruv Mlyn) is the almost perfect starting point for discovering the region for yourself.
Autocamping Jadran is located in the centre of a small wellness oasis. The West Bohemian spa triangle with the neighbouring town of Franzensbad is particularly appreciated for its feel-good atmosphere. The campsite is nestled between a pond, forest and meadows. The small site has several cabins that can be rented as accommodation.
When camping with a caravan, you have a lot of freedom, including when it comes to the destination: some people like to camp by a lake or river, others want to spend time in the middle of a forest and some prefer to be close to a large city. Finally, the choice of camping type is influenced by the location and the time of year you are travelling.
Camping by a water source has many advantages: In the morning, for example, you can take a walk along the banks of the large Lipno reservoir, refresh yourself in it on hot days and eat your meal in the evening with a view of the gently moving water.
Children in particular love to run around freely in nature: They enjoy swimming in various Šumava lakes, exploring the Punkva or Katharinen caves and discovering Karlstein Castle. In the evening, they can enjoy a delicious barbecue or make a campfire at the campsite.
When it comes to camping in the Czech Republic, many holidaymakers think of the warmer seasons. But with the right equipment, nothing stands in the way of travelling with a caravan in winter: winter camping is ideal for winter sports enthusiasts and adventurers.
Unfortunately, wild camping is not permitted in the Czech Republic. However, there are designated campsites in national parks where hikers are allowed to pitch their tents. These campsites may be used for one night and only a limited number of tents may be pitched. This form of wild camping is by no means a real alternative to camping.
As the Czech Republic is a neighbouring country to Germany, it's practically a stone's throw from your holiday destination. So this country is not only suitable for long journeys, but definitely also for a short weekend trip. It is only 350 kilometres from Nuremberg to southern Bohemia. The shortest route is via the A6 motorway, followed by the D5. At Pilsen, change to the A20 in the direction of Pisek. Holidaymakers with wanderlust are drawn even further east, near Brno. To do this, you also drive via Pilsen, but in the direction of Prague. After the D5, continue on the D1 for 180 kilometres. The distance from Nuremberg to Brno is over 500 kilometres, and a break is recommended here: Those interested in culture should make a stop in the capital and stretch their legs with a walk. The Motorest Pávov motorway service station is located halfway from Prague to Brno: here you can fortify yourself for the onward journey in the restaurant, which is open around the clock.
The Czech Republic is a diverse country with forests, mountains, lakes, rivers and culturally rich cities. Prague and Brno are at the top of the list for culture enthusiasts, nature lovers can explore one of the national parks and water sports fans can spend their camping holiday on waters with ideal conditions.
The municipality of Černá v Pošumaví is located in Šumava, close to the borders of Germany and Austria. It is located directly on the huge Lipno reservoir, which offers charming sandy beaches. To experience culture, you can easily travel to the lively capital city of Prague. There you can visit the National Museum and Petrin Park or take an enriching cruise on the Vltava.
The municipality of Mader is located in the heart of the Bohemian Forest: picturesque landscapes with vast coniferous forests, interesting high moors, paradisiacal mountain lakes and high peaks can be found in the surrounding area. The Weitfäller Filz - the largest moorland area in the Bohemian Forest - is well worth seeing near Mader. An abundance of rare animal and plant species can be admired here: an attractive holiday destination for nature lovers.

Especially at larger campsites in the Czech Republic, for example in Prague, there are numerous attractions for children. Whether animation programmes, playgrounds or recreation rooms - this selection is something special for the little ones and a relief for the adults.
The Czech Republic is a highly diverse country with many different sports on offer: Here you can fish, sail or surf on the lakes, hike in the forests in the fresh air and cycle in the beautiful countryside. In winter, skiers and snowboarders are an integral part of camping in the Czech Republic and in summer, beach holidaymakers visit the country.
Due to the continental climate in the Czech Republic, the temperature can drop to minus nine degrees Celsius in January, while in July and August it can be over 30 degrees Celsius. Beach holidaymakers mainly travel to the Czech Republic in these two months, while sports enthusiasts prefer the milder temperatures in spring and autumn.
