With its beautiful location in the Black Regen river valley, Viechtach is the most popular resort in the region. The climatic health resort not only offers great scenery, but also a beautiful historic market square, the fascinating crystal museum and a rococo church that is famous far beyond the region. Also worth a visit is the historic castle village of Kollnburg, which, in addition to its idyllic castle ruins, offers marvellous views of the Bavarian Forest and is an excellent starting point for exploring the region. A paradise for hikers and nature lovers is the small town of Lindberg, which lies right on the edge of the Bavarian Forest National Park.
Viechtach is the cultural centre of the region and is particularly popular with visitors due to its unusually mild climate. But there is also a lot to see here: Popular attractions include the local crystal museum, the listed "Nostalgiehaus" on the market square and the magnificent parish church of St Augustine, which is also known as the "Cathedral of the Bavarian Forest" and is one of the most beautiful rococo churches in the region.
