Nature camping and Ückeritz simply belong together. Situated to the north of the famous imperial baths of Usedom, the small bathing and health resort fascinates with its dreamy beaches, coastal forests and the idyllic Wockninsee lake. Campers can spend the night either on the Baltic Sea side or on the shore of the Bodden. Here you can go swimming and fish from the boat, for example, which you can later prepare at the campsite.

Many campsite operators also have their own bike hire service. For example, you can cycle to the famous imperial spas of Ahlbeck, Bansin and Heringsdorf, where the white-plastered spa architecture and the piers are real eye-catchers.o First-class sanitary facilities, kitchens and, of course, water and electricity connections are available.
In many places there are even wellness facilities such as pools and saunas for guests. The restaurants, which almost every place in Timmendorfer Strand has, spoil holidaymakers with delicious specialities from northern Germany: Kiel sprats, fried flounder and herring are among the culinary highlights.
Of course, a holiday in Timmendorfer Strand should not be spent exclusively on the beach. The location on the Baltic Sea coast encourages a variety of activities, ranging from surfing and sailing to extensive cycle tours around the Bay of Lübeck. After around 18 km, holidaymakers can reach the venerable Hanseatic city of Lübeck, whose imposing brick architecture is just as impressive as the harbour district with its historic ships.
Excursions are also worthwhile to neighbouring Travemünde, an excellent starting point for sailing trips, as well as to the UNESCO-protected city of Wismar. The latter is around 50 kilometres away and fascinates visitors with its ornate gabled buildings. Timmendorfer Strand is much more sophisticated in comparison: Spa houses, wellness spas and a striking pier characterise the local scenery.
The best way to discover the coast of Usedom is by bike. The flat countryside and beautiful landscape provide the perfect backdrop for short and longer bike tours. If you don't bring your own bike, you can easily hire one from the Ückeritz bike hire centre. Alternatively, many campsites also offer hire bikes for their guests. This allows you to reach the imperial spas or explore the coast of the Achterwasser in the south in harmony with nature. Lake Wocknin can also be wonderfully circumnavigated by bike or on foot.
Anyone who likes to eat fish will be happy in Usedom. Holidaymakers love the delicious matjes rolls, for example, which are sold at many stalls around the harbours and beach promenades. It is also worth ordering smoked fish such as eel, mackerel and halibut. These delicacies are also fried and served with regional vegetables.
A dish that became popular in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern during the GDR era is called solyanka. The Russian soup is prepared with various types of sausage, pickled gherkins, lecho and a spoonful of mustard. The whole thing is refined with a little sour cream and a wafer-thin slice of lemon.
During the hunting season in late summer and autumn, you will find notices outside the restaurants in Ückeritz advertising fresh game dishes. Roast venison, wild boar goulash and venison stews are prepared with great ingenuity.
