Many of them are located directly on the coast and offer beach pitches with a view. Some, such as the popular Sabbiadoro campsite, even have their own private beach for campsite guests.
Lignano Sabbiadoro is considered the centre of the peninsula and is characterised by its many shops, bars and restaurants. Culture vultures feel particularly at home here. The lively shopping street with its many small boutiques, which runs from Viale Centrale to Terrazza a Mare, is well worth a visit, especially on warm summer evenings. The squares and the picturesque fountain also invite you to linger and stroll around the town.
Lignano Pineta is nestled in a peaceful pine forest and is characterised by a church, bars and cafés. This neighbourhood is the green lung of the town. Campers can stroll along the many small footpaths through beautiful gardens and enjoy the view of the sea.
Those seeking peace and quiet choose a campsite in Lignano Riviera. There is always a fresh sea breeze on the coast, which is why it is also very popular with water sports enthusiasts. Here you can go sailing, surfing, canoeing, paddling, hire pedalos and have fun with countless water games.
In addition to the usual pitches for caravans and motorhomes, the campsites in Lignano generally also offer rental accommodation such as mobile homes, holiday flats and bungalows. Lignano is located in northern Italy and is easily accessible from Germany by motorhome. When travelling via Munich, camping holidaymakers can choose between two routes of equal length.
The first, around 500 kilometres long, leads past Rosenheim to the Austrian border. Salzburg is only a few kilometres away and well worth a detour. The birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart surprises with its narrow streets and the beautiful Hohensalzburg Fortress. The journey continues along the Austrian motorway to Villach. Here, holidaymakers cross the Italian border and drive to Udine until they reach their destination.
The other route follows the road to Rosenheim, continuing into Austria until Innsbruck is reached. The Alpine city tempts you to make a short stop and impresses with its mountain backdrop and the Golden Roof in the centre. After the Italian border, the journey continues to Belluno - from there it is only a few kilometres to Lignano. Guests travelling from Constance can choose between two routes of equal length. One leads through mountainous Switzerland, past Zurich to Milan - where culture lovers can enjoy a break. The route passes Verona, Padua and on to Lignano. The other way to reach your destination is to cycle through Liechtenstein and Switzerland to Milan.
Please note: In Italy, Austria and Switzerland, tolls are charged for using the motorways.
Thanks to its unique location on the Adriatic coast and the clean water quality, Lignano is a true pearl of the region and not only worth a visit for sun worshippers, but above all for wellness lovers.
The thermal baths of Lignano are important facilities for those seeking peace and quiet: Here, iodised seawater and sand are used for the therapies. Thalassotherapy is also popular with people suffering from health problems.
Thanks to the high iodine, bromine and salt content of the water, it can be used to treat various conditions. These include musculoskeletal and respiratory diseases. Pleasant and beneficial beauty treatments such as cleansing face masks, massages and balneotherapy are also on offer.
Those interested in culture should definitely plan a trip to Venice. The city, which is around 100 km away, is one of the most important cultural and historical centres in the region. Not only the picturesque St Mark's Square with the church of the same name and the bell tower, but also Campo San Polo are popular sights in this city. Venice is criss-crossed by around 175 canals and couples spend romantic hours on a gondola ride on the Grand Canal. Quaint cafés in the narrow alleyways or on the large squares invite you to enjoy a delicious cappuccino while strolling through the city.
The small municipality of Cavallino-Treporti, situated on a promontory between the Venice lagoon and the Adriatic Sea, attracts many bathers every year. The special flair and the beautiful restaurants on the beach promenade are the hallmarks of Cavallino-Treporti.
Italy is known for its light, Mediterranean cuisine, which mainly uses fresh and regional ingredients. Delicious vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, olives and aubergines as well as pulses are on the menu. In the coastal regions, freshly caught fish and other seafood are served.
In addition to the special ingredients, Italian cuisine is characterised above all by its slow food culture. The most important specialities include not only the traditional pizza with yeast dough, tomato sauce and mozzarella, which originated in Naples, but also various pasta dishes.
Caprese salad with ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil is also a popular dish, as is raw carpaccio, a thinly sliced loin of beef. Excellent wines from Tuscany round off the light Italian cuisine. Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy the delicious, creamy tiramisu on their camping holiday.
