Lacona is the ideal holiday destination for campers who want to spend a beach holiday with the whole family. The beautiful sandy beach of Lacona is one of the largest beaches on Elba and slopes gently into the sea - ideal for children to play and splash around in the shallow water while their parents relax in the sun or enjoy one of the many water sports on offer. Beautiful nature, a wide range of excursions and interesting cultural sites make the south of Elba one of the most beautiful spots in the Tuscan archipelago.
Lacona is located in a sheltered bay on the south coast of the Italian island of Elba in the Tuscan archipelago. The village is best known for its long golden sandy beach, which is the only one in the entire Tuscan archipelago to still have intact sand dunes. The campsites in Lacona are located within walking distance of the beach, making the village a very popular holiday destination for beach holidaymakers in particular. But nature lovers will also get their money's worth in Lacona. A mixed forest of pine trees, eucalyptus trees and the typical Mediterranean scrub begins directly behind the beach. Numerous hiking trails lead along deserted rocky coves and through dark green coastal forests across the flora and fauna of the island of Elba: past a cool stream and bubbling waterfalls to secluded idyllic bathing bays that few visitors see.
The campsites in Lacona are well-equipped and are almost all located near the beach or right by the sea. In addition to pitches for caravans and motorhomes, some also offer mobile homes and other rental accommodation for campers without motorhomes.
Great campsite right on the beach in Lacona. Clean sanitary facilities, friendly staff and pitches with a fantastic view of the sea make this site the ideal holiday destination for beach lovers. A highlight is the vegetable garden with tomatoes and other Mediterranean herbs from which you can help yourself freely.
Beautiful terraced campsite with direct access to several beaches. There is a small restaurant and a camping shop on the site. Thanks to the children's entertainment programme, the campsite is particularly popular with families. Another plus for dog owners: the campsite has its own dog beach.
The perfect campsite for those who don't want to choose between Lacona's two dream beaches. Thanks to its location on the Capo dei Stella peninsula, both the sandy bay of Lacona and Margidore beach are within walking distance. There is also a small swimming pool on the campsite. Dogs are welcome.
A camping holiday in Lacona is not just for sun worshippers and water sports enthusiasts. In addition to bathing fun, Elba is also home to beautiful nature and exciting history. The Tuscan Archipelago National Park, for example, is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. The picturesque village of Capoliveri with its historic old town is a great destination for a stroll. And if you want the best views of the sea, you should pay a visit to the Capo Stella headland.
An incredible variety of landscapes and life forms await visitors to the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Established in 1996, Europe's largest marine protected area comprises the seven main islands of the group on land and over 56,000 hectares under water off the coast of Elba. Every year, the Tuscan Archipelago National Park organises a month of free guided excursions along the Elban trails. Divers and snorkellers can also explore the national park underwater, for example on guided dives.
The picturesque small town of Capoliveri is just 20 minutes by car from Lacona and is one of the most beautiful places on Elba. The old town is built in the style of a medieval fortified village and is perched on a hill that offers wonderful views of the south coast of Elba. A stroll through the narrow alleyways and winding stairways of the old town takes you back in time.
Capo Stella is a narrow headland that separates the bays of Lacona and Capoliveri. Via Capo di Stella, a beautiful hiking trail leads through the colourful Mediterranean greenery to a hill at the very tip of the peninsula. From the top, there is a fantastic 360° view over the turquoise blue sea of the Golfo Stella and the rocky coastal landscape. On clear days, the view extends as far as the island of Montecristo.
If you have a little more time and are travelling by motorhome, you should see a little more of Italy. A great route for a road trip starts in the historic harbour city of Genoa and leads along the coast through the famous Renaissance cities of Tuscany such as Pisa and Siena. After a detour to Florence, the route continues to ancient Rome. From there, the route follows the eastern side of the Italian boot via San Marino and Bologna back to Genau. A wonderful journey that takes you through all of Europe's cultural epochs! Find out more about the route here:
