Camping in Julianadorp is particularly popular with dog owners, as your four-legged friend can go anywhere on the beach. However, this picturesque town on the Dutch North Sea coast has much more to offer. The dune landscapes and colourful flower fields are a real dream for nature lovers. Families can enjoy pure bathing fun on the long sandy beach.

Special features of camping in Julianadorp

The North Holland holiday resort of Julianadorp is located directly on the North Sea and is a popular destination for beach holidaymakers and sun worshippers. Many of the campsites in Julianadorp are located close to the beach or directly on a beach access. A short wooden boardwalk through the dunes usually leads to the water. The beautiful white sandy beach is one of the cleanest beaches in North Holland and has been awarded the blue flag for excellent water quality. Campers with dogs also love coming to Julianadorp. Four-legged friends are allowed on the entire sandy beach all year round. However, they are only allowed to run around freely in the low season. In the high season from 1 May to 1 October, dogs must be kept on a lead on the beach. The beautiful landscape between the dunes and fragrant tulip fields is also ideal for walks and bike rides. The "Strandhuisjes" are particularly popular in Julianadorp. These are pretty little holiday cottages right on the sandy beach and the perfect alternative to the beach campsites behind the dunes. Another highlight, especially for children, are the farm campsites. At these campsites with an adjoining farm, campers spend the night among flower bulb fields and enjoy the simple country life on the Dutch coast - the perfect place to really switch off from everyday life.

Popular campsites in Julianadorp

In addition to pitches for motorhomes and caravans, the campsites in Julianadorp often also offer rental accommodation and mobile homes for overnight stays. The sanitary facilities are regularly maintained. There are electricity connections, fresh water supplies and grey water disposal stations on the pitches. In most cases there is also a restaurant and bread service for breakfast on the pitch.

Camping Duinzoomhoeve

The popular family campsite Duinzoomhoeve between Julianadorp and Den Helder offers the best conditions for children thanks to a huge range of leisure activities. Highlights are the farm cottages and the romantic "Pipowagen" - mobile homes for 2 people with a great view of the flower fields.

Camping De Zwaluw

This modern beach campsite is located directly on the beach access. The North Sea coast and the beautiful, wide North Sea beach of Julianadorp are less than five minutes' walk from here. The campsite is the ideal starting point for excursions in the surrounding area. A number of cycle paths invite you to explore the dune landscapes.

Camping 't Noorder Sandt

Cosy family campsite in a great location in the middle of blooming flower fields. There is an indoor swimming pool on the site and a special highlight for children is the mini riding stable, where rides on the beach and riding lessons can be booked. In the holiday periods, for example over the Easter weekend and in the summer holidays, children's entertainment is also offered.

Camping Julianadorp Aan Zee

This small farm campsite is also a flower bulb nursery. Especially in spring, when the fields are in bloom, it is a great place for a camping holiday. There is also a canoe hire service on the site, with which you can set off directly on the canoe route around Julianadorp.

Strandcamping Oasis

The name says it all: Strandcamping Oase is a beautiful family park overlooking the dunes of Julianadorp. The wide North Sea beach is right behind it. Children can let off steam in the large playground. In the high season, exciting activities are regularly organised for young and old. There are also many cycle routes through the dune landscapes in the surrounding area.

Favourite places in the region

Julianadorp is one of the most popular seaside resorts in North Holland, but there is also plenty to discover in the surrounding area. A little to the north is the coastal town of Den Helder, which is well worth a visit. It is also not far from Julianadorp to the North Sea island of Texel. The neighbouring coastal town of Callantsoog with its adjacent nature reserves is also well worth a visit.

Den Helder

Den Helder is located at the northernmost tip of the province of North Holland and is best known for its maritime past. One of the most impressive buildings is the Naval Museum with its three museum ships, including the 78 metre long Tonjin submarine, which is also open to visitors. The historic harbour of Den Helder has become a popular nightlife district. In sunny weather, the pubs and restaurants in the harbour invite you to linger. The market in Beaxtrixstraat is also worth a visit at weekends.

North Sea island of Texel

The beautiful island of Texel can be reached from Den Helder in around 20 minutes by ferry. Here, the North Sea coast presents itself from its natural side. You can cycle or walk through the salt marshes of the De Slufter nature reserve, through dense forests and breathtaking dune landscapes. The 30 km of beautiful sandy beach on the west coast of Texel is a paradise for beach holidaymakers and for long walks by the water. It is also home to the De Muy nature reserve, where rare orchids bloom.

Callantsoog

The neighbouring coastal town of Callantsoog is a little more tranquil. The small town has just under 2600 inhabitants and is the perfect place for anyone looking for peace and relaxation. There is also a great beach here, which is so white that it literally glows in the sun. The Zwanenwater nature reserve is also very beautiful - a unique landscape of moors, dune valleys, lakes and forests that invites you to go hiking. Hyacinths, daffodils and crocuses thrive particularly well in the sandy soil. The best time to visit is from mid-April to the end of May, when the flower fields are in full bloom.

Sights and excursion destinations

  • Julianadorp beach: The beach is one of the main attractions of Julianadord. Thanks to its shallow access to the water, it is very suitable for families. The beach bar "Strandhaus Paal 6" is also highly recommended.
  • Hoenderdaell Animal Park: In the nearby Hoenderdeall Animal Park, visitors can admire retired circus lions, brown bears, colourful lorises, wallabies and monkeys. Great fun, especially for children!
  • Afsluitdijk: The world-famous Afsluitdijk separates the Wadden Sea from the Ijsselmeer and can even be seen from space. The 32 km long dyke is now also used as a motorway
  • Egmond aan Zee: Further south, Egmond aan Zee is another beautiful seaside resort on the North Sea. In addition to the fantastic beach, the lighthouse and the idyllic fishermen's houses are popular photo motifs.
  • Haarlem: Haarlem is a typical small Dutch town with canals, drawbridges and windmills and is a wonderful destination for day trips. The starting point for a city tour is the "Grote Markt" with its magnificent historical monuments.

Tour tip

A great excursion for the whole family is a tour to the Noorderhaaks sandbank. This 5 kilometre long sandbank is located between Den Helder and the island of Texel and was formed by the tides and currents of the North Sea. The sandbank is a refuge for rare seabirds such as the little tern, and is now home to a whole colony of grey seals and a few harbour seals. You can observe the marine mammals at close quarters on a boat trip to the sandbank. The boats run several times a day during the high season. The tour starts at the harbour in Den Helder or Oudeschild.

Insider tip

Here's a tip from our colleague Jessica (Content): With its flower fields, Julianadorp is a real mecca for hikers and cyclists. The best time of year for excursions on foot or by bike through the polder is spring (April to May), when thousands of tulips, hyacinths and daffodils bloom in every imaginable colour. A very beautiful tour leads to the neighbouring village of Anna Paulowna, which is surrounded by endless fields of flower bulbs. The "Landgoed Hoenderdaell" nature reserve is also located here - a real insider tip! Other great areas for walks in the neighbourhood are the nature reserves "De Donkere Duinen" and "Zwanenwater".
