All campers who want to experience the diversity of Norway in one place are in good hands when camping in Vest-Agder. In this diverse region in the far south of Norway, you can camp in the mountains as well as on the beach and with children. In addition to the natural beauty, Vest-Agder's picturesque towns also offer an extensive cultural programme.

Special features of camping in Vest-Agder

Camping in Vest-Agder is family-friendly and relaxed. The campsites are not only located in the middle of one of Norway's most beautiful natural landscapes, they are also harmonious retreats of a tranquil size. Most of them offer only 30 to 50 pitches on an area of just a few hectares.

Thanks to the family atmosphere, children quickly find playmates with whom they can explore the idyllic surroundings or have fun in the playgrounds and on the beach. Water in all its facets is always at the forefront of camping in Vest-Agder: there are campsites by the fjords or on one of the small islands off the coast. Inland, the bathing lakes and fishing ponds attract many nature-loving campers.

Best time to travel

Camping is possible all year round for motorhome and caravan travellers in southern Norway, as some campsites in Vest-Agder are open all year round. In winter and in the mountains, however, you can expect sub-zero temperatures at night from September to the end of April. During this time, the landscape sometimes seems enchanted by the dusky light.

The best time to visit is from May to September, as there is hardly any rain during this time, it is not so cold and it is also light for long periods. In the southern Norwegian summer, daily highs of 25 degrees Celsius are reached. In July, the average temperature in Vest-Agder is around 22 degrees Celsius. The water temperature off the coast fluctuates between 14 and 19 degrees Celsius in July and August.
