For relaxed camping on the Costa Brava, we recommend the small town of L'Escala in the Catalan province of Girona. The L'Escala campsites are located at the southern end of the Bay of Roses, in the shade of pine forests. The fine, gently sloping sandy beaches are ideal for camping with children, while the breathtaking cliffs of the nearby Montgrí massif are just waiting to be explored. In L'Escala itself, the charming old town and the picturesque fishing harbour invite you to take a leisurely stroll.
The lovingly designed campsites guarantee relaxation and fun for all ages. The manageable size of the sites is ideal for families with children in particular, allowing the little ones to move around freely, go on discovery tours, let off steam in the playgrounds or splash around in the pool. Shady pitches lined with green trees promise a pleasant atmosphere even in the hot summer months. Communal areas offer the opportunity to make new friends, cook together or sit together over a glass of wine. For those who prefer the absolute idyll of nature, a pitch at the foot of the Montgó mountain, just a few metres from the bay of the same name, is ideal. But those who appreciate a central location and close proximity to the city will also find a suitable campsite in L'Escala.
Camping in L'Escala attracts sun worshippers, hiking enthusiasts and water sports fans alike. In the summer months, beach holidaymakers enjoy temperatures of around 30 degrees Celsius, with a sea breeze always providing refreshment. In spring, the Tramuntana, the land wind coming from the north-western Pyrenees, attracts kite and windsurfers, while holidaymakers who want to climb the Montgrí and Montgó mountains or take a mountain bike tour along the coast prefer the months between April and June and from September to November due to the pleasant climate. The cool water temperature of 15 degrees Celsius in spring rises to 24 degrees Celsius in summer and drops to around 18 degrees Celsius in November.
