Picturesque villages and the omnipresent mountain panorama cast a spell over visitors. The Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft impresses with its nature, fun and culture. Families with children and couples are delighted with the wide range of activities on offer in the Swiss region. When camping in the mountains, holidaymakers can conquer Switzerland's impressive mountain landscape by bike or on foot.

Special features of camping in the canton of Basel-Landschaft

There are campsites in Basel-Landschaft mainly along the banks of the Rhine, which is ideal for long walks or cycle tours. But there are also family-friendly campsites close to neighbouring nature parks such as the Jurapark Aargau or the Thal Regional Nature Park. Campers can explore the surrounding area on well-signposted hiking and cycling trails.

The Wisenberg or the Geissflue mountain offer spectacular views. Bottmingen Castle, Ebenrain Castle, Wildenstein Castle and Reichenstein Castle are also popular destinations for day trips when camping in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. Another attraction is the Roman town of Augusta Raurica, where an amphitheatre from Roman times can be visited.

Best time to visit

Camping is possible all year round in Basel-Landschaft. In spring, the blossoming cherry trees are enchanting and attract many guests. The summer from May to September is ideal for long hikes and, with temperatures of up to 23 degrees Celsius, is also ideal for cycling and boat trips.

A visit to the neighbouring city of Basel is particularly worthwhile in summer: during the warmer months, holidaymakers stroll through the alleyways and along the Rhine and are attracted by countless events such as the popular Basel music festival "Im Fluss". In the winter months from November to March, the winter sports resorts open and welcome sports enthusiasts to the beauty of the Swiss mountains.
