Romantic gorges, rushing waterfalls and numerous premium hiking trails make Baden-Württemberg the perfect destination for active holidaymakers. Whether in the Black Forest, the Lake Constance region or the charming Electoral Palatinate: every region has natural and cultural treasures to offer. Cities worth visiting such as Heidelberg or Freiburg im Breisgau with their impressive buildings are ideal excursion destinations. Ludwigsburg Palace with its magnificent gardens is also well worth a visit.
Impressive palaces and castles as well as a well-developed network of cycling and hiking trails inspire culture lovers and active holidaymakers alike when wellness camping in Baden-Württemberg.
Those interested in culture can follow in the footsteps of the past on a wellness camping holiday. The Ludwigsburg Residential Palace is known as one of the most important baroque buildings in Germany. After a walk through the Blooming Baroque, the magnificent garden with its sea of flowers and landscaped pond, you can visit the fashion museum in the magnificent interior rooms. Costumes from the 18th to the 20th century are exhibited there. The interactive Kinderreich museum, where young guests can re-enact life at court in the past, is an attraction for families. The beautiful university city of Heidelberg is also worth a visit. The town on the Neckar is surrounded by the two local mountains Königstuhl and Heiligenberg in the Odenwald. The city is famous for Heidelberg Castle, which is enthroned on a hill and whose state rooms can be visited on a guided tour. In the 1.6 km long pedestrian zone, bargain hunters can shop in a historic ambience.
Thanks to the well-developed network of hiking trails in Baden-Württemberg, active holidaymakers can set off into nature directly from the wellness campsite. The 118-kilometre-long "Schluchtensteig" quality trail, which leads from Stühlingen to Wehr, is particularly attractive. The first stage through the Wutach Gorge is particularly recommended. Rugged cliffs rise up to the left and right of the path. More than 500 species of butterfly live in the narrow valley. In the Swabian Alb, themed trails such as the Kaiserweg near Bisingen illustrate history in an exciting way. On this family-friendly trail, hikers of all ages can learn how people once lived at Hohenzollern Castle. Two barbecue areas along the 6 km route invite you to enjoy a picnic in the countryside. The 3.2 kilometre-long fairytale trail The Cold Heart on the Sommerberg near Bad Wildbad in the Black Forest is also an excursion tip for guests with children. At lovingly designed stations, walkers learn about the eponymous fairy tale by Wilhelm Hauff as well as exciting facts about the Black Forest.
On holiday in Baden-Württemberg, guests can immerse themselves in the culture of the state at atmospheric events.
