Couples and families with children in particular love camping in sun-kissed Sardinia. Here they can experience sport, pleasure and relaxation in equal measure. The traditional hospitality of the Italians promises a cosy stay. Dog owners are also welcome at many campsites and can look forward to plenty of comfort together with their four-legged friend. A colourful mix of fun, adventure and island feeling sweeten your stay in northern Sardinia.
The Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) is located on the north-east coast of Sardinia between Palau and Olbia. The name reveals the emerald-like colour of the water. Camping on the Costa Smeralda takes visitors to the heart of the Gulf of Arzachena. Fans of sailing, nature and diving can let their gaze wander from Baja Sardinia to the island of Caprera over the magical archipelago of La Maddalena and find a real holiday feeling in one of the region's small sandy bays.
All campsites on the Costa Smeralda are well organised and maintained. Many of the pitches on the campsites offer a wonderful view of the sea or the impressive pine groves and allow quick access to the beaches. The holiday centre in northern Sardinia scores with campsites such as Villaggio Camping Cugnana, Centro Vacanze Isuledda and Tiliguerta Camping Village.
There is also growing interest in luxury camping on the island. Glamping accommodation in various designs (classic bungalow or "king tent") with a private bathroom and a terrace for sunbathing are popular.
Travelling to the north of Sardinia is not easy, but the pitches by the sea are simply fantastic. The unspoilt, hilly terrain with a wash house and a beautiful beach is much appreciated by campers. Alternatively, you can spend your holiday at the Centro Vacanze Isuledda site in comfortable rental accommodation. The bungalow offers every imaginable comfort. There is also a supermarket on site for guests to do their shopping.
Villagio Camping Cugnana impresses its guests above all with its attractive pitches in the shade of pine groves. The beach is just a few minutes away and the campsite's own outdoor pool is popular with campers. A small grocery shop, children's entertainment and a sports programme round off the services at Villagio Camping Cugnana.
If you are looking for alternative accommodation, you can also opt for luxury camping on the Emerald Coast. A spacious family bathroom and different living structures are a matter of course for the glamping accommodation.
The Costa Smeralda is part of the north-east coast of Sardinia. Sardinia has a Mediterranean climate. The weather is warm in spring and autumn, hot in summer and mild in winter. The highest temperatures when camping on the Costa Smeralda are measured in July, which is why sun worshippers prefer to choose this time of year. More rainfall can be expected from October to December. If you want to observe nature in bloom, the best time to visit the campsites on the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia is in the spring months.
