Around 8 kilometres from Bolzano, Camping-Park Steiner is located on the outskirts of the tranquil South Tyrolean town of Laives next to the hotel of the same name. The 2.5-hectare site has 180 parcelled-out pitches, all of which are equipped with electricity and Wi-Fi connections. There are also romantic wooden huts and sleeping barrels for hire in the park with its vine arbours and large elm trees. For an extra charge, guests can book the extensive breakfast buffet at Hotel Steiner in addition to their pitch for tents, caravans or motorhomes and indulge in homemade jams, crispy bread rolls, regional dairy products, bacon and cheese from South Tyrol and many other delicacies in the morning. When hunger strikes during the day, the camping restaurant and pizzeria adjacent to the campsite is the first port of call, where all dishes are also available to take away. Those seeking peace and quiet can make themselves comfortable on the well-tended sunbathing lawn at Camping-Park Steiner, where palm trees, olive trees and other Mediterranean plants provide shade. Hikers will find the Steiner Camping Park an ideal starting point for tours of various lengths. From Laives/Leifers, for example, it is a four-hour walk along the pilgrimage path to the romantic Baroque-style Maria Weißenstein monastery. On the way, holidaymakers pass artistically designed Stations of the Cross and enjoy a magnificent view of the South Tyrolean lowlands. Less than 30 minutes' drive from the campsite, Lake Kaltern is an Eldorado for families and water sports enthusiasts. Due to its shallow depth, the largest bathing lake in South Tyrol warms up to 28 degrees Celsius in summer: perfect conditions for swimming and splashing around. Lake Kaltern is also a popular spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
