Located on the south coast of Spain, the region of Andalusia welcomes its guests with dreamlike landscapes, magnificent architecture and beautiful beaches. A huge selection of sports and leisure activities as well as the advantages of camping right by the sea, but also the numerous offers for camping in mobile homes and glamping attract a large number of camping enthusiasts to Andalusia year after year. The campsites impress with idyllic pitches surrounded by nature, modern sanitary facilities and an appealing entertainment programme. Sites such as Camping Los Escullos or Camping Las Lomas on the banks of a lake combine these positive features.

Special features of camping in Andalusia

Andalusia is a picturesque region on the southern coast of Spain, nestled between the Sierra Morena and Sierra Nevada mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. The landscape is characterised by rolling hills and diverse flora and fauna. It is one of the 17 autonomous communities in the country. Here, camping holidaymakers will find numerous leisure activities and a wide range of sports to make their holiday an unforgettable experience - a paradise for active holidaymakers.

The campsites in Andalusia also offer great courses and excursions. Many of the campsites are also located on the coast, making them a popular destination for sun worshippers and beach holidaymakers. The Costa del Sol and the Costa de la Luz with their golden, fine sandy beaches are among the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Andalusia. Families with children can also enjoy a successful beach holiday here.

Journey

Travelling by caravan or motorhome from Germany to the dream destination of Andalusia is exciting despite the long distance. The road network on the journey is well developed and signposted, but the distance between Germany and Andalusia is around 2,500 kilometres, which suggests a few stopovers.

The route leads from Germany to the French border, past the city of Lyon and down to Montpellier, which is located on the French coast and very close to Marseille. From here, the route continues along the coast towards Barcelona and then Valencia. After passing the Spanish port city, you travel through the interior of the country to Andalusia.

Destinations in Andalusia

The Spanish region of Andalusia is divided into eight provinces, all of which have a variety of attractions and excursion destinations worth seeing. Vibrant cities such as Seville and picturesque coastal towns such as Marbella or Tarifa capture the hearts of camping holidaymakers.

Marbella

Marbella is a lively coastal town on the Costa del Sol, known for its kilometres of sandy beaches, lavish villas, luxurious hotels and extensive golf courses. The old town of Marbella is definitely worth a visit. Guests can look forward to several marinas with elegant boats and numerous street restaurants that invite you to linger. Culture vultures are also well catered for here: the historic town hall from the 16th century and the impressive Iglesia de la Encarnación church with its magnificent interior are popular excursion destinations in the city.

Tarifa

Tarifa is the southernmost city in Andalusia and forms the eastern end of the Costa de la Luz. It attracts visitors with many leisure activities and is a good starting point for various excursions in the region.

In the Parque Natural del Estrecho nature reserve, guests are welcomed by a vast, completely unspoilt patch of earth that epitomises the natural beauty of the region - ideal for extensive cycling or hiking tours. Tarifa is also a paradise for fans of water sports and is very popular with kitesurfers and windsurfers.

Activities and excursions

When camping in Andalusia, holidaymakers are particularly impressed by the wide range of sports and leisure activities on offer, ranging from water sports and varied cycling and hiking tours to exciting excursions to the region's towns and picturesque natural landscapes.

Water sports

More than 1,000 kilometres of coastline make Andalusia an Eldorado for water sports enthusiasts. Picture-perfect beaches, which could not be more different, are lined up one after the other here. The high waves on the Atlantic coast are perfect for taking advantage of one of the many kitesurfing and windsurfing schools on offer. You can also go jet skiing, sailing or scuba diving to explore Spain's colourful underwater world.

Seville

The capital of Andalusia enchants visitors with its culture, history and joie de vivre, which is simply infectious. The streets of the city are a hive of colourful activity, as are the many restaurants, bars and cafés. Seville's city centre also boasts exceptional architecture and historically significant buildings, such as the Giralda Tower, the Alcázar Palace and the Archivo General de Indias central archive, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Gastronomy

Andalusian cuisine is as wonderfully varied and versatile as the marvellous region itself. The culinary delights speak for themselves and enchant guests with regional products. Anyone visiting Andalusia should definitely try the classic olives and the world-famous Jamon Iberico de Bellota ham. The wonderfully nutty flavour is a real taste sensation.

The internationally renowned appetisers tapas are a real Spanish speciality. There are numerous bars and restaurants in Andalusia that specialise solely in selling these little delicacies. The green gold of Andalusia, olive oil, is also used as often as possible.

Best time to visit

The Mediterranean climate in Andalusia ensures mild spring months, hot summers and pleasant autumn and winter months. In spring, temperatures reach 21°C and are therefore ideal for active holidaymakers who want to explore and marvel at the region's diverse landscapes and sights in a relaxed manner. Autumn is also a popular travel time for active holidaymakers and culture enthusiasts.

Daytime temperatures climb to over 25°C as early as May, offering ideal conditions for a holiday by the sea. Due to its geographical proximity to Africa, temperatures in the summer months are above 30°C almost every day and guarantee equally warm water temperatures - perfect conditions for a fun-filled holiday with the whole family.
