With children on board, a short break every two hours is recommended. But adults should also take a break after 400 to 500 kilometres at the latest. Campers who choose to travel via France should drive to the picturesque villages and recommended facilities away from the motorways for an overnight stop.

Two of the main reasons to go camping in Torremolinos are the kilometre-long beach with its many water sports facilities and the exciting water parks. Those interested in the culture and history of the region should plan a detour to Malaga, around 20 kilometres away.
The range of motorised and non-motorised water sports on the Costa del Sol is huge. Holidaymakers can either hire pedal boats or kayaks to explore the coast or chase over the waves on banana boats, jet skis and water skis. Of course, surfing and SUP courses are also on offer.
Another attraction for water lovers is the city's aqua park. This is where you can take to the water at top speed on rapid slides. There are 15 age-appropriate slides for younger guests. Visitors can practise their surfing skills at the surf beach, while the rest of the family can let off steam on the 18-hole mini golf course.
The harbour city delights visitors with a modern skyline combined with historical sights that reflect the former Moorish rule. The Alcazaba fortress and the ruins of the former Gibralfaro Castle should be on the agenda, as should the Picasso Museum.
Travellers who prefer to spend their holidays by the sea will quickly make the acquaintance of the Chiringuitos de Playa, the typical beach bars of the Costa del Sol. They offer grilled fish skewers or fried fish, for example. The dish pescaito frito is particularly popular on the menus of the Playa de La Carihuela.
The quaint tapas bars, where small snacks of meat, fish, cheese, vegetables and ham are served, are typical of Spain. In addition to international dishes, the city's restaurants also offer classic dishes from the region such as bread stew with vegetables, cold vegetable soup or fried eggs with pork. For dessert, borrachuelos, deep-fried pastries with sugar threads, are particularly delicious.
The climate on the sunny coast, as the Costa del Sol is known, is categorised as subtropical. It is characterised by hot summers with temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius and 11 hours of sunshine a day in August. The water temperature is around 24 degrees from August to October. The perfect time for a beach holiday in Torremolinos is between June and October.
In spring and autumn, temperatures are mild and range between 20 and 27 degrees. Even in the winter months, the weather is comparatively warm. In January, the coldest month, the thermometer still climbs to 17 degrees Celsius. However, increased rainfall must be expected between November and April. There are around 6.5 days of rain per month.
