Aragon in north-east Spain is characterised by its diverse landscapes: In the centre, the river Ebro flows through the plain, while the Pyrenees tower high in the north. In the southern part, the Iberian mountain range forms a border with Catalonia. Camping holidaymakers in Aragon can explore a varied landscape that is particularly appealing to hikers, cyclists and guests seeking peace and quiet.

Special features of camping in Aragon

There are around 90 campsites in Aragon, most of which are located in the Pyrenees. The mountain range with its three national parks is criss-crossed by numerous hiking trails and cycle routes. Some campsites are close to rivers or lakes, which guarantee swimming fun in the summer months. The open-hearted teams at the campsites are also very happy to welcome dog owners and their four-legged friends.

For ambitious active holidaymakers, the region offers mountain bike routes and mountaineering opportunities. White water kayaking tours are regularly organised on the rivers, which are an insider tip among paddlers and are still not very popular. For quieter days, there are several first-class golf courses on the campsites, some of which are among the best in Spain.

Best time to travel

The three different landscapes go hand in hand with different weather conditions. There is little rain in the Ebro Valley, summers are hot and winters are cold. The Pyrenees Mountains have an Alpine to Mediterranean climate, depending on the altitude. The southern mountain ranges also have a Mediterranean climate.

The best time for camping holidays is between June and September. This is when the weather is constantly warm and dry, reaching a maximum temperature of 30 °C in the Ebro Valley. Some campsites are also open in winter and offer a year-round camping experience. During the cold season, cultural excursions to Spain's most beautiful cities, such as Zaragoza and Huesca, are more peaceful and tranquil than in summer. The snow-covered Pyrenees are ideal for winter sports.
