A particularly large number of ADAC Super Campsites are located on the marvellous beaches on the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. At 5-star campsites in France, families bathe on the gently sloping shore, while active holidaymakers enjoy the wide range of water sports on offer in the upmarket seaside resorts of Biarritz or Cannes. Culture lovers are drawn to fascinating cities such as Bordeaux or Marseille, some of whose sights are World Heritage Sites.
The area around the ADAC Supercampsites is home to beautiful beaches and many cultural highlights. Both the hinterland and the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts have numerous sights to offer.
From the luxury campsite, those interested in culture can go on excursions to towns worth seeing. In the heart of the wine-growing region of the same name, Bordeaux attracts visitors with its centre, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, visitors can marvel at Saint-André Cathedral, one of the largest religious buildings in France at 124 metres in length. The view of the harbour and the numerous historic buildings is breathtaking from the church's free-standing tower, the Tour Pey-Berland. France's Mediterranean coast also has a lot to offer in terms of culture: The Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nice, where Impressionist and Rococo works can be seen, is a major attraction for art fans. The second largest city, Marseille, also boasts numerous sights: In addition to the picturesque Vieux Port harbour, the mighty Notre-Dame de la Garde church in neo-Byzantine style is one of its landmarks.
Bathers are spoilt for choice at 5-star campsites in France: endless sandy beaches await you on both the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast. With its mild climate and gently sloping sandy beaches, the coast of the Côte d'Azur is ideal for families. Stars from all over the world also meet here for beach holidays in the fashionable coastal towns. In the west, the Côte dArgent offers a charming contrast between deep, green pine forests and large inland lakes such as the Lac de Hourtin et de Carcans, where sailors, surfers and swimmers can enjoy the fresh water. A walk to the largest shifting sand dune in Europe, the Dune du Pilat, is also worthwhile. The Basque coast, on the other hand, is an Eldorado for water sports enthusiasts. The elegant town of Biarritz has made a name for itself as a surfing spot for decades.
Throughout France, atmospheric events attract locals and visitors.
