In Spain, the children can go on wonderful cycle tours along the coast and in the nature parks, and at the campsite they can dive into the sea or the pool, play, slide and laugh a lot. The dogs are of course a must on a family holiday and can enjoy themselves on their own training ground. Sports-mad parents can work out in the fitness park and those who prefer to relax can enjoy a pleasant massage on site.

Destinations

The popular and award-winning Marjal Costa Blanca Camping & Resort in Crevillente boasts an extensive aqua park, which is ideal for children. There is also an excellent wellness and health centre with a spacious fitness area, sauna, physiotherapists and much more. Special attractions at the 5-star campsite include the dog school with training area and the possibility of a sensational hot air balloon ride. The El Hondo Nature Park with its reservoir, 7 km away, is extremely attractive for families who enjoy walking or cycling. Campers who prefer to stay right by the sea on holiday should take a closer look at the Torre la Sal 2 campsite in Ribera de Cabanes. With the beach on the doorstep and a nature park 1 km away, the site is like a cosy oasis of well-being. For those who prefer to have fun in the pool, there are three to choose from: The first is equipped with water games for children, the second has a pool bar for adults and the third is specially covered and air-conditioned for the winter. There are also many leisure activities on offer: Facilities for tennis, squash, football, volleyball, basketball and archery as well as an outdoor fitness park and bike hire are available. Highlights of the campsite are the bullring and the mascots Bravito and Mansita, who are always a hit with the little ones. Massages, sauna, jacuzzi for parents as well as mini club, bouncy castles and age-appropriate discos for children round off the programme.

Top tips

  • The best way for parents to relax while sightseeing is to visit one of the quieter cities such as Valencia. Here there is a long beach with a promenade and a number of playgrounds to let off steam. The city is also home to the largest aquarium in Europe and the Albufera Park nature reserve.
  • An island excursion to Lanzarote is a fabulous adventure for the whole family: you can go on a discovery tour to the Jameos del Agua volcanic cave or drive across lava fields to Timanfaya National Park, where you can observe the wonders of geothermal energy. For example, you can see straw that catches fire and cold water that turns into a geyser - all due to the underground heat alone.

Activities and excursions

There is always something going on when camping with children in Spain: not only on the campsite itself, but also in the surrounding area, which can be explored on family excursions.

Parrot park on Tenerife

Loro Parque (Parrot Park) is an animal park and botanical garden on Tenerife. It bears this name because it is home to the largest collection of exotic parrots from all over the world. The park is also home to unique animals, such as killer whales. On the Discovery Tour offered at Loro Parque, guests are taken on an informative tour where they learn more about the keeping of different species.

A journey into the past

The castle of Ponferrada in the Pyrenees is a must, especially for fans of princesses and knights. The Castillo de los Templarios is a well-known and popular stop on the Way of St James, but can also be visited when camping with children in Spain. While the little ones duel with sticks or make flower crowns, the adults can learn about the architecture and history of the medieval castle.

Lots of fun for young and old

A leisure and adventure park is of course a must on a holiday in Spain. In Barcelona, for example, there is the Port Aventura park with various themed areas, such as China and Mexico. In addition to spectacular rollercoasters and countless other rides, there are also exciting shows. It's not just the little ones who will laugh and be amazed here.

A water park for adrenaline junkies and children alike

Not every campsite in Spain has a pool, but if it does, it's still a huge adventure to head to the Aquabrava water park in Girona: This is because it has tons of extraordinary attractions to offer. For adrenaline junkies, there are spectacular challenges such as the kamikaze slide. There are also very gentle programme points for the little ones: For example, a wave pool reminiscent of the sea and a relaxation pool for relaxation.

Events

The child-friendly campsites in Spain with great extras make you want to spend the whole holiday on the site itself. However, there are some wonderful events that will make you want to leave your holiday paradise for a few hours.

December

  • New Year's Eve in Pamplona: In the old town of Pamplona, people dress up at the turn of the year, giving you a taste of carnival.

January

  • Eucharistic festival and procession of the Three Kings: In Santillana del Mar, scenes from the Christmas story are re-enacted at the annual festival.

February

  • Carnival on Tenerife: cheerful and colourful parades with great costumes and games - fun for young and old.
