A campsite with a pool in North Holland is an ideal base for a beach or cultural holiday. From here, for example, you can head to the capital city of Amsterdam, famous for its canals and museums. If you are planning a beach holiday with the whole family, camping with a pool in North Holland in the fascinating coastal towns of Egmond an Zee or Zandvoort is the right place for you.

Top tips

  • Although North Holland is surrounded by plenty of water, keen swimmers on the North Sea do not have to do without a campsite with a pool. All camping fans on the North Holland island of Texel can use the adjacent indoor pool at Landal Sluftervallei. Or you can take a 15-minute jaunt from De Cocksdorp to the Zwemparadijs Calluna in De Koog. There you can enjoy metres of slides, whirlpools and wave pools as well as a sauna.
  • However, if you don't want to miss out on the proximity to Amsterdam, you are welcome at the Droompark Spaarnwoude campsite to the west. There is an indoor swimming pool and sauna here, as well as the Aqua Mundo water park in Zandvoort, just 30 minutes away. As a highlight, you can try out the Aqua Cinema there and indulge in two hobbies at the same time.

Activities and excursions

Water sports enthusiasts and families are drawn to the kilometres of sandy beaches when camping with a pool in North Holland. Culture lovers go on excursions to the towns worth seeing.

Museums and other cultural treasures in North Holland

Many culture vultures are drawn to the capital Amsterdam when camping with a pool in North Holland. In the museum quarter, the Van Gogh Museum is home to the largest collection of the famous Dutch painter. Highlights of the collection include the Potato Eaters and the often-copied Sunflowers. A visit to the Rijksmuseum is also worthwhile, where exhibits by Rembrandt van Rijn, Jan Vermeer and many other greats can be seen. A particularly cosy way to discover Amsterdam is on a canal cruise along the countless canals. Around 80 km from the Dutch capital in the far north, Den Helder attracts visitors with its 40-hectare Willemsoord museum harbour. Among other things, you can see the pile-driving ship Schorpioen, built in 1868, and the minesweeper Abraham Crijnssen.

Beach holiday for families and active people

The former fishing village of Egmond an Zee on the North Sea coast has retained its original charm. Just 10 kilometres from Alkmaar, the municipality attracts families and those in need of peace and quiet with its kilometre-long sandy beach. It has been one of the most popular holiday regions in North Holland since 1950 and Egmond an Zee is also a popular meeting place for water sports enthusiasts: surf schools teach beginners how to keep their balance on the board and experts perfect their technique. Kitesurfers also enjoy the Egmond an Zee coast. Zandvoort on the edge of the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park is also perfect for a beach holiday. The Blue Flag has been flying along this stretch of coast for many years due to the excellent water quality.

Events

Numerous events round off the varied holiday programme in North Holland.

June

  • Egmond an Zee Fishing Day: On the third Saturday in June, everything in Egmond an Zee revolves around freshly caught fish. Atmospheric sea shanties are played in the centre, while guests and locals look for bargains at the numerous market stalls.

July

  • European Sand Sculpture Championships: The European Sand Sculpture Championships have been attracting artists to Zandvoort for several years now. For a whole week, people work diligently on a given theme on the beach. Interested parties take part in workshops. The figures can be admired until the autumn.

August

  • Uitmarkt Festival: On the last weekend in August, the Uitmarkt Festival in Amsterdam attracts music and theatre lovers. From jazz and hip hop to children's performances, there is something for everyone
