ExceptionalThe beautiful nature in the Werratal invites active holidaymakers and dog owners to take long walks. Water lovers love travelling to Lake Werratal, where there is a family-friendly campsite in the Werratal with a private beach in Eschwege. Active guests can enjoy sailing and surfing. One of the campsites in the Werra Valley is located in the immediate vicinity of the town of Heringen, which is famous for the Monte Kali rock salt spoil tip, among other things.
The idyllic Werra Valley stretches from its origins in the Thuringian Slate Mountains to its mouth in the North Sea. For holidaymakers who want to combine a stay in the great outdoors with a cultural holiday, we recommend camping in Eschwege among the campsites in the Werra Valley. It is located right next to the site where the "Open Flair" festival takes place in August.
The centre of Eschwege is also not far away, with its half-timbered town hall, which is well worth seeing. Cyclists and water sports enthusiasts like to come together at the campsite in the Werratal in Creuzburg. You can canoe directly from the site onto one of the many water hiking or cycle paths. Families and dog owners are also very welcome at the campsites in the Werratal.
The camping season in the Werra Valley runs from spring to late autumn. In May and June and from September onwards, the campsites are mainly frequented by hikers, cyclists and culture lovers. Then the weather is perfect for excursions. Nevertheless, you should always pack rain protection, as precipitation can occur.
From June to August, the sun shines more often than average in the Werra Valley. Although it rains from time to time in summer, the conditions for swimming are usually perfect. During hot periods, the water in Lake Werratal warms up to 25 degrees Celsius and above. As the sun shines for an average of 7 hours a day during these months, the climate is ideal for relaxed days of swimming with the whole family.
