EuroParcs Cadzand
EuroParcs Cadzand

Cadzand, which belongs to the municipality of Sluis, is the southernmost coastal town in the Netherlands and is located right on the Belgian border. Thanks to its kilometres of picturesque sandy beaches, it attracts sun-seekers to camping by the sea. The cosy campsites in Cadzand are also an ideal holiday destination for a camping holiday with dogs thanks to the extensive dunes and meadows. And sporty guests will get their money's worth on the countless hiking and cycling trails. Recommended sites include Ardeor Camping "The Zwinhoeve", Molecaten Park Hoogduin, Camping Wulpen, Wielewaal and Camping De Hoogte.

Special features of camping in Cadzand

Cadzand is located on the seemingly endless sandy beaches of the North Sea coast in the Zeeuws-Vlaanderen region. In addition to wide stretches of coastline with grassy dunes, the flat, tranquil polder landscape with scattered farmsteads attracts holidaymakers. Hiking and cycling trails lead through the paradisiacal landscape of the Het Zwin nature reserve.

The village of Cadzand stands out with its medieval charm, and culture lovers can look forward to a visit to the early Gothic St Mary's Church from the 14th century. The local houses are characterised by richly decorated gables. The highlight is the picturesque Nooit Gedacht flour mill, which stands on a small hill. The village of Cadzand is the quieter part of the town, while Bad Cadzand is more lively around the marina. There are pitches right by the water and the nature reserve as well as in the hinterland.

Arrival

If camping holidaymakers are travelling from Stuttgart, they can choose between several routes. The shortest route of around 640 kilometres leads past the historic city of Karlsruhe to the Luxembourg border. Culture vultures can make a detour to the small capital here.

After a few kilometres, the Belgian border is reached and the route passes the historic city of Namur and the lively metropolis of Brussels. Ghent is followed by Cadzand. The other route, with picturesque towns such as Heidelberg and Aachen, is around 650 kilometres long. After a short stretch on the Dutch motorway, camping fans arrive in Belgium and drive past the port city of Antwerp until they arrive in Cadzand after 90 km. If you are travelling from Leipzig, there are various ways to reach the North Sea. The shortest route of just under 740 kilometres takes you via Göttingen, Dortmund and Essen. Culture lovers should take a short break in Essen, the popular city in the Ruhr region. The route also passes through Eindhoven and Antwerp. The route from Hamburg is just under 650 kilometres. Travellers pass Osnabrück and follow the Dutch motorway to the popular seaside resort on the North Sea coast.

Activities and excursions

The holiday destination, which has been awarded the title of Healing Seaside Resort, offers a fantastic natural backdrop for outdoor activities.

Unforgettable excursion to the Het Zwin nature reserve

Cadzand is located almost directly on Het Zwin nature reserve. The extensive landscape is characterised by a breathtaking variety of rare plant and animal species. This biospherically interesting region is flooded with salty seawater at high tide and is therefore a habitat for snails, mussels and other small animals. The salt marshes provide a perfect breeding ground for ducks, avocets, black-headed gulls, oystercatchers and kestrels. Children look forward to watching the storks that live here foraging or breeding.

Unforgettable moments on and in the water

Thanks to the good water quality, the salty sea air and the clean beaches, Cadzand is a holiday resort that is very beneficial to health. The wide, gently sloping sandy beach is also popular with families with children. Little ones can splash around safely in the shallow tideways.

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy diving or surfing and sun-seekers can relax on the fine sand. Another particularly popular stretch of coast is the beach at Oostkapelle. Visitors can fish and fly kites here. Boat trips to the seal banks also depart from Cadzand Bad marina.

Gastronomy

Dutch cuisine is known above all for its hearty dishes. One of the most famous dishes is stamppot. The stew consists of mashed potatoes and vegetables. The sauerkraut version, for example, is often prepared with bacon or sausages.

Especially in winter, the locals prefer a creamy pea soup, which is served with smoked sausages and a slice of dark rye bread. Meat lovers should definitely not miss out on the frikandel. The fried roll usually consists of pork, beef or poultry.

One of the most popular desserts is vla, which is available in different flavours. There is also a traditional fishing harbour and a fish market in nearby Breskens, as well as many restaurants and snack bars serving freshly caught fish.

Best time to visit

The Netherlands is characterised by a temperate maritime climate. Thanks to the North Sea, there are mild winters with average temperatures of just under 3 degrees Celsius and warm summers with a maximum temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius. Cadzand's favourable location in the province of Zeeland, which is the sunniest region in the Netherlands, ensures pleasant water temperatures of almost 18 degrees in August and September. During the mild spring and autumn months, holidaymakers can take a varied cycle tour along the coast to Breskens or stroll along the beautiful Boulevard de Wielingen. Markets are held regularly in the village centre, where visitors can immerse themselves in the hustle and bustle of the seaside resort.
