Bizarre rock formations, idyllic vineyards and warm bathing lakes - Saxony boasts beautiful landscapes that are a true paradise for naturist campers. Whether at the magical Vogtlandsee lake, in the Bahratal valley or near Dresden or Leipzig, there are numerous opportunities for fans of naturism to spend their camping holiday unclothed. Spending the night at a naturist camping holiday in Saxony is a particularly close-to-nature experience.
From weekends in the historic Florence on the Elbe to hikes in the Vogtland and climbing tours in the Ore Mountains, Saxony has plenty to offer.
On a camping holiday in Saxony, a trip to the state capital Dresden is well worthwhile. In addition to the Elbe meadows and the alternative Neustadt district, the historic old town with its world-famous, magnificent baroque buildings is of course particularly worth seeing. Highlights here include the Zwinger Palace with its museum complex and baroque gardens, the Semper Opera House and the reconstructed Frauenkirche. Leipzig is also definitely worth a visit. In the green Bach, trade fair, university and book city, there are many sights to discover, such as St Thomas' Church, the Mädler Passage or the Monument to the Battle of the Nations. The neighbouring alluvial forest area is the largest in Central Europe. Leipzig's beautiful waterways can be experienced on a boat tour or while canoeing.
Certified quality trails, themed trails and nature trails lead right through the idyllic Vogtland region. One of the most beautiful routes is the Vogtland Panorama Trail with its numerous highlights. Holidaymakers hike past the Dragon Cave, the Pöhl Dam and Mylau Castle. Other quality hiking trails in the Vogtland include the Höhensteig Klingenthal, the Talsperrenweg Zeulenroda, the Kammweg-Erzgebirge-Vogtland and the Elsterperlenweg.
Climbing fans can, for example, scale the Einsiedlerstein in the Dippoldiswalder Heide, which was first climbed by Dresden climbers in 1904. Legend has it that a hermit monk named Dippold lived near the sandstone. The fairytale-like rock formation of the Greifensteine is also popular with climbing fans. In the adventure climbing forest of the same name, advanced climbers, beginners and people with disabilities can climb up to a height of 13 metres.
The bizarre rock formations of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains rise up around Bad Schandau, Königstein, Rathen and Wehlen. From easy to challenging tours, there is a wide choice for hikers here. The majestic Stolpen Castle and Königstein Fortress can also be visited here.
The calendar of events in Saxony is packed with traditional customs and festivals.
