Destinations

One of the most child-friendly campsites in Tyrol is Camping Hell in Fügen, located between beautiful fields, forests and mountains. This 5-star campsite offers guided hikes and mountain bike tours in the marvellous landscape. Leisurely holidaymakers can explore the surrounding area in electric cars, which can be hired on site, while children can have fun in the indoor playground at Camping Hell, which boasts a trampoline and a climbing and bouldering wall, among other things. Young and old can swim in the organic bathing pond or in the heated pool. The wellness area, with various saunas and massage programmes, also has a 5-star rating. The Erlebnis Comfort C. Aufenfeld campsite in Aschau is a real paradise for children: a climbing hall, a petting zoo and a top adventure leisure park - with an extraordinary western fort, gold panning camp, saloon and horses - await the little ones there. There is a sauna area as an oasis for parents: here you can not only enjoy various saunas, but also infrared cabins and a steam bath. In winter, the family can use the indoor pool and visit the campsite's own ski school with drag lift. If you're camping with children in Tyrol, you should definitely take a closer look at the Seeblick Toni resort on Lake Reintal in Kramsach. Two beaches with sunbathing lawns invite you to swim. Children will love the lake, the well-equipped playground and the creatively designed children's washroom with small washbasins, toilets and shower fittings. There is a wellness centre with a range of massages for pampering. For sporty travellers, the guided hiking and mountain bike tours are a highlight.

Top tips

  • With a separate shallow water area, a floating island and a water labyrinth, the Hög bathing lake is a great holiday destination with children. Here you can also hire a pedalo, jump on the trampoline, play on the wooden ball track and ride the summer toboggan run.
  • The clean Lake Tristach is located directly in the peaceful forest. There is a non-swimmers' area and a diving tower. After splashing around in the water, the fun continues in the playground or at the table football and table tennis tables.
  • Lake Natterer See is also recommended when camping with children in Tyrol. It has a separate children's bathing bay with a sandy beach, a giant water slide, a water trampoline and a climbing iceberg: the little ones will have a great time at these water attractions. Another highlight is the kayak school on the lake, where you can take a course.

Excursions and activities

A camping holiday alone is extremely exciting for children. But the one or other excursion outside the resort - to the ball forest, zoo or Swarovski garden, for example - makes the holiday adventure even greater.

The largest wooden marble run in the world

The ball forest on the Glungezer features a spacious tree house, a quiet area to relax in, attractive sound elements and a forest classroom where you can learn more about nature. But the highlight is definitely the wooden ball track: on tracks made of Swiss stone pine wood, the Swiss stone pine balls race from one tree to another - with jumps, steep sections, enormous curves, jumps and crossings. The course of the balls can be controlled by many elements, which makes for fun and excitement. You can also build your own ball track in the ball forest.

There is a lot to see at the Alpine Zoo

The first highlight starts even before you arrive at the Alpine Zoo, because to get there, you take the cable car from Innsbruck's old town to the middle station. This already suggests that you have a remarkable view of the valley and the surrounding area from the zoo with its native animals. Snakes, fish and birds as well as all kinds of mammals - such as ibex, elk, wild cats, wolves and brown bears - can be observed here. In the on-site zoo school, the whole family can take part in lessons with live animals.

A glamorous garden with many a highlight

A modern playground, an extraordinary play tower and a high hedge maze await children at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens. The play tower is particularly magnificent with 160 crystalline facets printed with millions of small animal motifs. A sliding puzzle, animal memory, water games, a climbing route and a wooden marble run are further extras of the facility. For all visitors, the crystal cloud - with around 800,000 crystals - is a huge highlight in the Swarovski garden.

Events

Many an event on a camping holiday is a great attraction for the whole family. How about a carriage ride at the Christmas market, a festival of lights or a funfair?

January - February

  • Winter magic in Kaiserwinkl: In Kössen there is a beautiful festival of lights with stage shows, live music, fireworks and an ice rink.

May

  • Gauderfest: The festival in Zell am Ziller impresses with wrestling matches and a historical fair.

September

  • Matthiasmarkt: One of the largest fairs in the region is held in the municipality of Matrei.

November - January

  • Seefeld Advent and Christmas market: This is a traditional Christmas market with gift ideas, culinary specialities, children's punch, angel post office for wish lists and carriage rides.
