Destinations

If you want to bring home some great stories from your holiday, Austria's family-friendly campsites are the perfect place for you. Located in a picturesque landscape, they offer a wealth of entertaining excursion options. One of the most beautifully situated camping resorts in Europe is the multi-award-winning holiday paradise of Natterer See in Tyrol. Surrounded by unspoilt countryside, the resort is just 7 km from the lively provincial capital of Innsbruck . Whether you opt for a pitch with a fantastic view of the Tyrolean mountains, a sunny location close to the bathing lake or one that is close to nature and wooded: It's always the perfect spot.

With its modern infrastructure and diverse gastronomy, the Natterer See holiday paradise also ensures a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The indoor kids' club and the beautiful playgrounds ensure that the little ones have a great time, while the youngsters can let off steam with sporting activities or get to know each other while chilling out. A barbecue area for cosy barbecue evenings is the best way to round off an eventful day. The Burgstaller Comfort Camping Park in Carinthia also impresses holidaymakers across the board. Surrounded by high mountains, this popular, multi-award-winning campsite for families is located in the south of Austria in the immediate vicinity of Lake Millstatt. With guaranteed good weather and a shallow sandy beach, nothing stands in the way of free bathing fun at the campsite's own lido.

The most modern sanitary building in Europe is also located here. The entertainment programme, which is well-known beyond Austria's borders, ranges from exciting gemstone hunts and attractive sporting events to the pressing of fresh apple juice and scary scary hikes. The rotating pitch, which follows the sun, is unique in the world.

Top tips

  • The Nassfeld Kids Adventure World in Carinthia offers fantastic family-friendly leisure activities. At the Almrausch mountain playground, children can have a blast and parents can enjoy the fabulous view of the mountains. The Bendolino summer toboggan run is almost 2 kilometres long and will make your tummy tingle on the ride down into the valley. In addition to an exciting rock labyrinth, the Flying Fox climbing park provides high-flying thrills, and children can swing back and forth between Austria and Italy on the Dolce Vita trail.
  • Explorers of all ages can dive into prehistoric times on Europe's largest dry reef in Tyrol. The fantastic Triassic Park is located at an altitude of around 1,600 metres and features many fossils and replicas of giant dinosaurs. Real corals and a prehistoric underwater world show visitors what it looked like here 250 million years ago. There are many puzzles to solve, and afterwards the 30 metre long tube slide on Triassic Beach, the highest sandy beach in the Alps, entices visitors to enjoy a slide and a swim.

Activities and excursions

Austria offers a wide range of leisure activities, from sporting outdoor activities to exciting theme parks and cultural experiences for young and old.

Flying high in Austria

As the largest climbing park and high ropes course in the Kitzbühel Alps, the Hornpark climbing forest in Tyrol gets the adrenalin pumping in children from the age of 3. There are many attractions to discover on the mini course or in the traditional climbing park. In the Tscheppaschlucht forest rope park in Carinthia, adventurers aged 4 and over can climb for all they're worth. Climb up to heights of 1-14 metres, and if you still haven't had enough, you can try Austria's longest flying fox course.

Fantastic Fantasiana

The Fantasiana adventure park in Tyrol is the largest theme park in Austria and has 7 exciting adventure areas. The castle courtyard with the creepy Dracula house is just as impressive as the enchanting fairytale forest of the Brothers Grimm. And in the Africa/Orient area, you can not only go on a raft trip or jeep safari, but also follow in the footsteps of Sinbad's adventures. Various rides make the visit an all-round successful day.

A different kind of trip around the world

At Minimundus in Klagenfurt, visitors can travel around the world in a single day. Over 150 world-famous sights from over 40 countries have been recreated here. You can travel from the Statue of Liberty in New York to Tower Bridge in London in no time at all. Interactive stations in the indoor area provide lasting experiences for children and adults alike.

A unique dream castle

Hochosterwitz Castle sits enthroned in Laundsdorf in Carinthia and is one of Austria's dream castles. Thanks to its 14 historic castle gates, it is unique in castle construction. It can be easily reached on foot or by taking the Fürst Max railway. After an exploration tour through the magnificent fortifications with their museum and the exciting adventure world, delicious Carinthian specialities await you in the castle restaurant. The Burgrave and Burgravine organise regular events such as knights' festivals, family celebrations and full moon hikes.
