The fascinating dune landscape in the north of Terschelling offers sand as far as the eye can see. Water sports enthusiasts, families and those seeking peace and quiet feel equally at home here. The lively holiday resort of Terschelling West is not only home to numerous restaurants and ice cream parlours, but also the oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands. There are also numerous campsites in the surrounding area with fantastic pools where you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool water.
The north coast of Terschelling looks like an oversized sandpit. In summer, many families come here to build sandcastles and splash around. Hiking and cycling trails along the coast and in the unspoilt hinterland invite you to actively discover the landscape.
Around 15 kilometres off the Dutch mainland lies the charming North Sea island of Terschelling. It is famous for its unique flora and fauna, among other things. On long walks through the salt marshes and the fascinating dune landscape, active holidaymakers can discover rare orchids and bird species such as herring gulls, herring gulls and cormorants while camping with a pool on Terschelling. The island is criss-crossed by a 250 km network of well-signposted paths. Cyclists can hire a bike at the campsite with pool on Terschelling and ride along the coast on paved paths or into the marshlands in the hinterland. The island's landmark, the Brandaris lighthouse on the west coast, can also be easily reached by bike. The square stone building was built in 1593 and is considered the oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands.
Midsummer is the ideal time for guests who want to swim in the North Sea when camping with a pool on Terschelling. This is when the sea warms up to over 20 degrees Celsius. The sandy beach, which is 30 kilometres long and up to 500 metres wide, stretches mainly along the north coast and is bordered by mighty dunes in many places. West Terschelling is particularly lively during the high season. The largest town on the island attracts visitors with its wide Green Beach near the harbour with its gently sloping shore. Those seeking relaxation are guaranteed to find a quiet spot on the east side of Terschelling in Oosterend in the Boschplaat nature reserve. Water sports enthusiasts are drawn to a campsite with a pool on Terschelling because of the excellent wind conditions for surfing, windsurfing or kitesurfing.
At the campsite with pool on Terschelling, there are events in the water and on dry land all year round.
