Those seeking relaxation and anglers opt for a cosy break on the Masurian Lake District in north-eastern Poland. Thanks to the dreamlike landscape with its many bodies of water, branching canals and small islands with lush greenery, holidaymakers can leave everyday life behind and enjoy an unforgettable camping holiday. This region is also ideal for a camping holiday with children. Young holidaymakers will discover a diverse flora and fauna with wild boar, wolves, lynx and various bird species. Renting a houseboat or excursions to the Baltic Sea, Gdansk or neighbouring towns enrich the leisure activities.
The campsites on the Masurian Lake District are very quiet and located directly on the shores of the lakes. Examples of this are Camping Park Sonata on Lake Mauersee in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Camping KamA in Talty, Camping Elblag on the Oberland Canal and Masurian Camping 173 Herkus in Dywity. Water sports enthusiasts in particular get their money's worth in this boating area: numerous sailing boats cross the waters and stop off at the most beautiful villages. The clear water attracts not only swimmers but also anglers. Visitors can explore the sparsely populated landscape on boat trips. Culture lovers start their holiday from Giżycko, the largest town on the Masurian Lake District, and visit the lovingly restored water tower, which offers a breathtaking view. A walk along the lakeside promenade with its numerous cafés and restaurants is also popular. Active people can enjoy a leisurely bike ride through the peaceful countryside or opt for a hike through the dense woodlands of the Johannisburg Heath or the Rominter Heath.
The campsites in the region are very popular with holidaymakers in Poland. The exceptional location near the lake, the marvellous natural landscape and the boating area are sure to delight many campers. The pitches for tents and motorhomes with a view of the water are naturally in great demand and should be booked well in advance. The campsites mainly provide pitches for tourists, which means that permanent campers are rare. The prices for the pitches are very reasonable in both the high and low seasons.
Camping Park Sonata is located on a peninsula between Lake Dargin to the south and Lake Mauersee to the north. The pitches are south-facing and allow quick access to the lake. The tranquil campsite covers a total area of four hectares and offers boat and bike hire for exploring the region. Excursions within the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and to the Baltic coast can be easily organised from here.
Camping Kama is located directly on Lake Tałty and offers its guests the opportunity to book pitches in the shade of numerous deciduous trees. A beautiful beach with a bathing jetty with ladder access and water slide ensures fun in the water during the summer months. The boat and bicycle hire, the bread roll service at the campsite and the spa facilities all speak in favour of a stay at Camping Kama.
The Masuria region is known for other beautiful campsites. Camping Elblag on the Oberland Canal or Masuria Camping 173 Herkus in Dywity are further recommendations for this region in the north-west of Poland. A motorhome is a wonderful way to go on a journey of discovery and get to know this part of the country with all its beautiful facets.
The Masurian Lake District has a continental climate with very hot, sunny summers and cold winters. The high temperatures of up to 38 degrees Celsius in July and August are ideal for a great beach holiday. The warm water at a pleasant 23 degrees Celsius also entices younger guests to swim. Campers who prefer to visit cities or go on bike tours are best off travelling in April or May. September, with its mild temperatures of around 25 degrees Celsius and many hours of sunshine, is also perfect for hikes through the nature reserves, the primeval forests or on the long-distance hiking trails that run through this region.
