Located to the north-east of the Rothaargebirge mountains, the campsites in Winterberg offer a varied holiday programme for families and active holidaymakers. The Hochsauerland region with its deep forests is best explored on foot or by bike. The pet-friendly facilities are also ideal for camping with dogs. As camping in Winterberg is also possible during the cold season, the well-kept pitches are also popular with winter sports enthusiasts and are an ideal location for a skiing holiday.

At the campsite in Winterberg, you can reach the centre of the picturesque village on foot in just a few minutes. Camping Vossmecke in Niedersfeld, located in the north of the town, is situated directly on the popular Rothaarsteig hiking trail. The Bike Arena with its spectacular obstacles is also practically on the doorstep. A walk to the impressive St. Georg ski jump is also worthwhile. The view of the Kahler Asten from the viewing platform at the ski jump is unforgettable. The Hochsauerland Camping Park in Winterberg, located south of the town centre, is also open all year round. Around 200 kilometres of cross-country ski trails lead through the glittering winter wonderland. During the warmer months, the summer toboggan run provides hours of fun for families. Alternatives in the region include the caravan park in Neuastenberg and the Ahretal campsite in Züschen. They all impress with their overall facilities and comprehensive service. In addition to the classic pitches, ski huts are also available for overnight stays at selected campsites. Accommodation bookings can be made online or at the reception on site.

Campsites in and around Winterberg

The campsites in the famous ski resort are worth a visit at any time of year. The idyllic pitches are the starting point for many activities. In summer, the many hiking trails and in winter, of course, the ski slopes in the holiday world are tempting.

Camping Vossmecke

Camping Vossmecke in Niedersfeld is a beautifully landscaped terraced campsite with a neighbouring forest. The site, which is open all year round, is characterised by permanent campers and therefore only offers a few tourist pitches. Early booking is recommended at Camping Vossmecke, especially at peak times. The ski lift for accessing the ski area is located in the immediate vicinity, as are the first cross-country ski trails of varying lengths. In summer, there are several bathing opportunities by the lake.

Campingpark Hochsauerland

Campingpark Hochsauerland is a worthwhile destination all year round for campers who enjoy travelling in the Sauerland. Especially in the cold season, the overall facilities with ski kindergarten, ski school, ski hire and access to the ski lift are a real treat. Motorhomes have separate pitches with beautiful views at the Hochsauerland camping park. The spa facilities and the elaborate landscaping of the site, which also provides the necessary shade on the pitch, are particularly popular in summer. The mixture of guests and permanent campers creates a pleasant atmosphere on the campsite with a lively exchange. The popular family campsite with baby changing room, toboggan run nearby, drying facilities and spa services is rated four out of five stars on Pincamp by its guests.

Camping Gut Kalberschnacke

Awarded 4 stars by the ADAC and 4.5 stars by Pincamp customers - Camping Gut Kalberschnacke in Drolshagen is a tip for campers in the Sauerland. The site is about an hour's drive from Winterberg and is in an absolutely idyllic location above the Listertalsperre reservoir. The wooded surroundings are ideal for hikes and excursions. Thanks to the nearby lake, boaters and anglers will find good conditions for pursuing their passion. 125 tourist pitches are available, be it a place for your own tent or a motorhome pitch - the parcelling out of the site offers the right spot for every camper. Families will particularly enjoy the large playground and the lovely offers for families, for example treasure hunts, family excursions and night walks are organised at Gut Kalberschnacke. Due to the high number of permanent campers, interested guests at Pincamp should send a reservation enquiry to the campsite in advance of their trip. If you can't find a pitch for your motorhome or tent at the facilities mentioned, there are other beautiful campsites in the area. The motorhome park in Neuastenberg, Opperland Camping in Medebach or the Ahretal campsite in Züschen are recommended destinations.

Activities and excursions - Tips from Pincamp

Winter sports

Winterberg does not have the cold season in its name for nothing, as the region is a fantastic destination for winter sports enthusiasts. The Winterberg ski lift carousel combines several valleys and mountains and offers more than 30 ski runs totalling around 28 km in length. Racing down the mountains on downhill skis or enjoying the beautiful cross-country skiing trails are just two options. The St. Georg ski jump at Herrloh and four other smaller ski jumps are also located here. A bobsleigh run and the cross-country stadium on Bremberg are also exciting backdrops for winter sports fans.

Summer holiday in Winterberg

The leisure options around Winterberg are almost limitless. Beautiful lakes such as the Hillebachsee, hiking trails such as the Kapperundweg, excursions to an ore mine or an amusement park or a visit to a healing tunnel offer relaxation and countless new impressions. The Winterberg ski lift carousel is also a worthwhile destination in the warmer months: the forests between the pistes are mostly accessible outside the ski season and offer wonderful opportunities for family bike rides as well as for mountain bikers looking for the next action-packed tour. Three summer toboggan runs offer fast-paced fun through the beautiful countryside. Breathe in the mountain air and feel a bit like a ski jumper - the Sky-Fly ZIP-Line makes this possible too.

Best time to visit

Thanks to the altitude of around 670 metres, it is pleasantly cool when hiking in Winterberg's forests, even on hot days. As rainfall is highest from June to September, rainwear should be considered when camping in Winterberg. When the temperatures drop below 0 degrees at night at the end of November, the 28 pistes of the ski carousel are groomed. Just in time for the start of the season at the beginning of December, skiers can look forward to perfect snow conditions. In the largest ski area in the Sauerland, skiing does not close until April, weather permitting.
