The village of Oostkapelle is located directly on the North Sea coast and is therefore a popular holiday destination, especially for families with children. Thanks to the clean coastline and gently sloping beaches, even the youngest guests feel at home here.
But it's not just the little ones who get their money's worth during a camping holiday: Oostkapelle is a very sociable village with great highlights in the town centre. Holidaymakers can immerse themselves in the traditions of Dutch culture at regular markets.
The landmark of this romantic village is the late Gothic parish church Protestantse Kerk with its 14th century tower. In summer, visitors can climb the steps and enjoy a breathtaking view of the hustle and bustle of the village and the unique landscape from the top.
The most popular campsites in Oostkapelle include Camping in de Bongerd, De Pekelinge, Camping Dennenboos and the Ons Buiten holiday complex. Many of the sites are located in the immediate vicinity of the North Sea beach and therefore offer the best conditions for sunbathing, relaxing and numerous water sports activities.
In addition to pitches for motorhomes, most of the sites and camping parks also offer mobile homes, bungalows, tent pitches or other rental accommodation. The facilities on the pitches are good: clean sanitary facilities, electricity and water connections as well as Wi-Fi connections ensure that guests feel at home on the campsites in Oostkapelle.
Many campsites have their own entertainment programme for children, organised by experienced supervisors. As most Dutch people can also speak German, communication is usually not a problem. Restaurants, snack bars and supermarkets cater for self-catering guests.
There are several dog-friendly accommodations in Oostkapelle. As everywhere in Zeeland, it is generally not a problem travelling to the campsite with pets. In some cases, however, there are special regulations at the individual campsites that prohibit dogs in mobile homes and other rental accommodation. You should find out about this in advance.
If you want to take your dog to the beach, consider yourself lucky: Both free-roaming dogs and dogs on a lead are allowed on the beaches of Oostkapelle. But there is a catch: dogs are banned from 1 May to 15 September. In the high season, you will therefore have to switch to one of the many dog beaches in Zeeland.
The nearest dog beach from Oostkapelle is the dog beach 64 Berkenbosch. Leashed dogs are allowed here all year round

Active people and nature lovers can hire a bike and explore the seemingly endless coastal landscape of Zeeland. The polders of Walcheren are also well worth a visit and are easily accessible by bike. Oostkapelle borders the Oranjezon nature reserve. The northern coastal section of the Walcheren peninsula is particularly eye-catching with its dunes and dense forest areas.

Dutch cuisine is particularly famous for its hearty dishes. The main ingredients are vegetables, butter, meat, fish and milk. The different cuisines often overlap with those from neighbouring regions, such as the Rhenish or Flemish cuisines. One of the locals' favourite dishes is stamppot, a stew made from mashed potatoes and various vegetables. It is often served with smoked sausage. Bitterballen are deep-fried meatballs and are one of the Dutch's favourite finger foods. They are usually made from beef and are eaten with a delicious mustard dip. The famous stroopwafels are served as a sweet accompaniment to coffee or tea. This delicacy consists of two waffles and a caramel filling in the centre.
