In the morning, take a leisurely walk in the beautiful mountains or along the tranquil lake or mobilise your joints in the fitness room. Afterwards, you can relax in the infrared cabin or in the sauna area. In the afternoon, you can take part in various health programmes or guided courses such as aqua fitness and yoga. Informative nutritional advice is also often on the programme. The day is rounded off in the thermal bath or Kneipp facility.
Austria impresses travellers with its vast fields and forests, spectacular mountains, picturesque lakes and charming villages as well as culturally rich cities. In the south-east near Bad Radkersburg, travellers are particularly fascinated by the floodplain landscape along the River Mur, a nature reserve that is a habitat for endangered animals and home to rare plant species. Numerous cycling and hiking trails invite you to take part in sporting activities and the thermal water in the region attracts many spa holidaymakers. The Parktherme Bad Radkersburg campsite, for example, boasts a thermal bath with various indoor and outdoor pools. The sauna village especially for adults and the children's club for the little ones are also enrichments for the site. Thermenland Camping Bad Waltersdorf is also located in the south-east of Austria. Although there are no on-site spa facilities here, there is a free shuttle bus to nearby spa facilities, such as the Heiltherme Bad Waltersdorf. Here you can spend a lot of time in the various healthy thermal water pools: In the thermal sports pool, you can ride the underwater fitness bikes or swim in the counter-current system. In addition to a thermal Roman bath, there is also an outdoor area with underwater music and much more. A plethora of health programmes and courses such as aqua fitness are further extras at Heiltherme Bad Waltersdorf. Health lectures, nutritional consultations, Kneipp facilities and a wellness park with a spine course round off the extensive options. Holidaymakers who prefer to be in the mountains when spa camping in Austria should take a closer look at Comfort Camping Ötztal in the west. It offers guided mountain tours, a sports centre, a solarium, an infrared cabin and a wellness area with sauna and relaxation room.
Lots of fascinating nature above and below ground as well as exciting culture enrich spa camping in Austria.
Campers interested in culture can take a city trip to Salzburg, which is known for the world-famous musician Mozart and the equally famous festival. The Hohensalzburg Fortress, the municipality's landmark, towers over the old town on a small mountain. You can also visit Mirabell Palace with its enchanting garden, Hellbrunn Palace with its marvellous trick fountains and Getreidegasse, where Mozart's birthplace is located.
The enormous Katerloch stalactite cave near Graz in Styria can be explored on a guided tour. In the extraordinary underground chambers you will find spectacular stalactite formations, interesting limestone corals and beautiful crystal columns. At the deepest point of the cave is a turquoise body of water with white stalagmites and sinter islands. You can also discover various species of bat and the eponymous owl tomcat, a regional term for a male owl, in this unique underground world. The Raabklamm circular trail, which starts and ends in Arzberg, is located close to the Katerloch stalactite cave. As the longest gorge in the country, this hike along the water has a lot to offer: Fantastic floodplain landscapes, steep rock faces, the pleasantly rushing Raab and dense, fresh forests enrich this tour. Along the almost 13-kilometre route, the occasional kingfisher or black stork can also be spotted. The Katerloch stalactite cave and the Raabklamm circular trail are great excursion destinations for nature lovers.
In addition to the Raabklamm nature reserve in the east of Austria, there are also numerous natural oases in the west that are just as protected. For example, the Tiroler Lech Nature Park, through which the eponymous wild river flows. Impressive valleys, idyllic riparian forests and picturesque gravel banks come together here to create a paradisiacal landscape. In addition to hiking and cycling trails, guided group tours, interesting themed trails, such as the bird adventure trail, and several nature park inns promise unique experiences.
Some spa campers specifically seek out events in the tranquil natural surroundings during their camping holiday, while others enjoy events with art and music or a festival with lots of people.
