Regardless of the activity, the view of the Bavarian mountain scenery is unique. In winter, family-friendly slopes in the Radstädter Tauern or the Allgäu Alps can be accessed from campsites that are open all year round.

The whole family can enjoy relaxing walks or bike rides in the beautiful countryside on holiday and then cool off in the refreshing lake at the campsite. Parents make the most of the sauna and whirlpool, the dog gets a workout in the training area and the children can't get enough of the natural playground and petting zoo.
If you are travelling with children in Bavaria, we recommend taking a closer look at Camping Brunnen: The campsite is located directly on the shores of Lake Forggensee and is surrounded by idyllic wide fields, the Allgäu Alps and royal castles. The site boasts a charming wellness area including saunas and a panoramic whirlpool, modern sanitary facilities with a children's pool and an extensive leisure programme for the little ones. In summer you can go swimming, sailing, windsurfing, cycling and hiking here and in winter you can go tobogganing. 5-star Strandcamping Waging near Waginger See is another child-friendly campsite in Bavaria. There are opportunities for jumping and sliding in the natural outdoor pool and outside there is a sports park and wellness garden with a Kneipp facility. Families with teenagers appreciate the great offers at Strandcamping Waging - such as campfire evenings, football training sessions with former professionals and slackline courses. The youngest guests can take the bus transfer to the pony rides and, if they have a dog with them, they can play with them at the dog park. The Gitzenweiler Hof camping park in Lindau is located close to Lake Constance and is a true paradise for children: the little ones blossom at the natural playground with stilt course, petting zoo and pony rides. The whole family will enjoy the canoeing, fishing and archery courses and the guided hikes and cycle tours are not to be missed. Other great extras include the organic herb garden and a creatively designed sanitary area for children.
Camping families love being out in nature and children's favourite leisure activity is playing: Bavaria scores highly with its numerous excursion destinations and is able to combine both of these things well.
In Pfronten there is a knight's playground with a moat and fountain. The princesses climb the high tower and wave to their parents from above. One or two knights look out for the ruins of Falkenstein Castle, which is located in the region, and the adults read the display boards that provide information about playing in the Middle Ages.
There is another interesting themed playground in Amberg: the pirate water playground is located near or on a small lake. One way to get from one shore to the other is to take the pile path. The second option is to choose one of the two rafts on which the little ones can move around under their own steam. There is also a tower and a pirate ship in the playground, which add to the fun. An on-site kiosk provides refreshments for the pirates from April to October.
A whole 50 hectares of forest are available for recreation and exploration in Spiegelau. On this forest play area, you can swing, slide and climb into a large hollowed-out tree - the so-called woodpecker cave. Here you can walk along an exciting nature trail and barbecue tasty treats on a forest meadow.
Schönbusch Park in Aschaffenburg has something quite extraordinary: a hedge maze where children can run around. If the little ones get lost, the parents climb the high observation platform to direct their charges out. The park is also the site of a pretty neoclassical summer palace known as Schönbusch Palace. After visiting this building, the family paddles a boat across one of the lakes in the picturesque landscaped garden.
It's nice to complement your camping holiday with children in Bavaria with great events, such as carnival, a traditional children's festival or a contemplative Christmas market.
