FabulousThe varied holiday region stretches from the border with Austria, Switzerland and other countries in the north to the Italian Riviera. Families are drawn to South Tyrol for hiking, for example, where olive and almond trees grow due to the Mediterranean climate, which is rare for this latitude. The kilometres of sandy beaches on the Adriatic Sea, on the other hand, are a paradise for water lovers.
Whether it's a beach holiday or an active holiday, camping with children in northern Italy is full of variety.
The relatively short journey time makes the Upper Adriatic a perfect holiday destination for families from Germany. When camping with children in northern Italy, you can head to the 8-kilometre-long sandy beach in Lignano, for example. Here you can splash around on the wide, gently sloping shore and build sandcastles, while those looking for a change of pace can take a trip to the Aquasplash water park with its sensational slides. There is also plenty of fun to be had on Jesolo beach, where entertainers invite you to join in during the summer season. Animal lovers can admire impressive sharks up close in the Tropicarium Park, while the 18 km long dream beach of Caorle is also ideal for an unforgettable beach holiday with children. On both the west and east beaches, the water only deepens slowly and is perfect for splashing around. Numerous beaches in northern Italy are regularly awarded the Blue Flag for their excellent water and environmental quality.
A variety of excursion destinations and the fresh mountain air make a holiday in South Tyrol a special experience. Several adventure parks such as those in Dobbiaco or Val Gardena invite you to spend active hours. The largest high ropes course in South Tyrol is located near Kaltern in the Altenburg Forest. Visitors of all ages can test their head for heights on 21 courses, while the Alpin Bob Merano summer toboggan run is a fast-paced experience. The 1.1 km long track runs up to 12 metres above the ground in places. The landscape around Merano/Meran is also particularly attractive for hiking. Along the former water pipes, irrigation channels lead through nature on relatively flat terrain. Thanks to the mild climate, families can admire blossoming almond and olive trees on walks in spring. In autumn, on the other hand, you will sometimes pass sweet chestnut trees, for which South Tyrol is famous.
Folk and children's festivals provide plenty of variety when camping in North Tyrol.
