On Elba, you can snorkel in the sea or take a leisurely stroll along the pleasantly rushing water. Sunbathe on a lounger by the beautiful pool. Take a refreshing swim in the clean pool and pamper yourself in the relaxing steam bath, the detoxifying sauna or the soothing whirlpool.
In the east of the island is the charming village of Rio Marina, which is known for its past wealth of ore deposits. The Torre dell Orologio tower and the Forte del Giove fortress are particularly worth a visit. If you want to marvel at the fascinating ore mines, pay a visit to the Parco Minerario dell'Isola d'Elba. 3 km from the centre of Rio Marina is Camping Canapai, which has a great outdoor pool on site. The campsite also boasts a steam bath, a whirlpool, a sauna and a beauty centre. Children will enjoy the playground and the entertainment programme. Sports enthusiasts can hole a few balls on the campsite's own golf course.
Another campsite with a pool on Elba is the 4-star Camping Scaglieri in the north of the island. The site is located on a long beach and families in particular are delighted with the top children's facilities: a playground, nappy-changing room and extra sanitary facilities for the little ones are available alongside entertainment. Nature lovers in particular will feel right at home at Camping Scaglieri: this campsite is located in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, which not only includes a lot of unspoilt land, but also the largest marine reserve in Italy. At the same time, Portoferraio - the island's capital - is just 6 kilometres away.
In the south of Elba, water sports enthusiasts can enjoy swimming, diving and kayaking in the town of Lacona. Those who prefer solid ground under their feet can take a walk in the idyllic natural surroundings on one of the countless hiking trails. Camping Stella Mare is located in this dreamlike landscape right by the crystal-clear sea and boasts an outdoor pool, whirlpool and paddling pool.
In addition to sunbathing and swimming while camping with a pool on Elba, holidaymakers can look forward to a variety of excursions: these range from visits to interesting museums steeped in history to boat trips to other exciting islands.
Napoleon Bonaparte was one of the most famous inhabitants of the island of Elba in the past. The best way to get closer to this era is to visit the two Napoleon villas: The Villa dei Mulini in the capital Portoferraio was built as early as 1724 and later adapted to Napoleon's wishes. This building is definitely worth a visit. The beautiful Villa Napoleonica in San Martino was used as a summer residence by the French general and emperor. Today you can marvel at exhibits and works of art from Napoleon's time.
How about other islands near Elba? Capraia, Giglio and Pianosa are all smaller than Elba, but just as worth seeing. A boat trip to the prison island of Pianosa - where you should keep an eye out for dolphins - is particularly exciting. Some prisoners are held in custody here and not in a cell as expected: they are in open detention and work in a restaurant in the island's only town, for example. The clear, turquoise blue and vast sea forms a kind of enclosure where bars are not necessary, so it is understandable and hardly surprising that Pianosa can only be explored with a guide. However, only prisoners who have almost reached the end of their sentence and have shown good behaviour in the previous prison are transferred to this little paradise. Speaking of paradise: A bike tour through the idyllic and unspoilt landscape is particularly recommended, as the entire island and its sea surroundings are a nature reserve. Here you can expect to find enchanting oases.
When camping with a pool on Elba, holidaymakers can look forward to exciting sporting events, culinary festivals and traditional markets.
