During the summer season, numerous bathing spots around Lake Lugano invite you to cool off. However, it's not just the crystal-clear waters in a picturesque location that offer refreshing cooling off when camping with a pool on Lake Lugano, but also the fantastic swimming areas at the campsites. If you want even more variety, visit one of the surrounding water parks or take advantage of the wide range of water sports on offer, from surfing and sailing to stand-up paddling.
Even away from the pool, holidaymakers can enjoy a varied summer holiday at the campsite on Lake Lugano. The holiday region is an Eldorado for hikers and cyclists at any time of year.
Countless water sports options attract active holidaymakers to camping with a pool on Lake Lugano. The most popular spots for surfers are in Melide and Caslano, where strong northerly winds sometimes ensure good wind conditions. Sailors also like to take advantage of the excellent thermals near the Melide dam. In the shallow water areas near Agno or Riva San Vitale, guests can discover the shore while stand-up paddling. If you are travelling to a campsite with a pool on Lake Lugano for water sports or swimming, it is best to book from July to September. During this time, the water warms up to between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius. Midsummer is also the ideal holiday time for families, who can splash around on the sandy beach at Lido di Caslano. The Lido e Piscina Comunale Conca DOro has a giant trampoline, a long beach and a sports pool.
Located in the heart of the Swiss canton of Ticino, Lake Lugano surprises with its Mediterranean climate. Even in March, camping with a pool on Lake Lugano offers ideal hiking weather with temperatures of up to 13 degrees. In the region, which is also known as Switzerland's sunshine parlour, palm trees grow that are rare for this latitude. The well-signposted network of paths leads you on foot, for example, on an almost 7-kilometre tour from Ruvigliana along the shore to the fishing village of Gandria. The ascent through the chestnut forest to Monte Brè starts here. Among other things, hikers pass old stone houses and the picturesque village of Brè Paese. Cyclists are attracted by the 50 km circular route. On the tour, it is worth making a stop in Riva San Vitale, where the Battistero is the oldest Christian building in Switzerland.
Those who have had enough of splashing around can get to know the traditions of the holiday region at atmospheric festivals throughout the year.
