The varied coastline of Krk has something to suit every holiday taste: Families love the sheltered sandy bays, divers can expect mystical wrecks and a fascinating underwater world and surfers take advantage of the ideal wind conditions. The well-signposted network of paths attracts cyclists and hikers to the breathtaking landscape. Rare bird species and dense pine forests delight nature lovers when camping by the sea on Krk.
Many beaches fly the Blue Flag due to the excellent water quality. In addition to the beautiful coastline, Krk also has a well-developed network of hiking trails.
With 2,500 hours of sunshine a year, Krk is one of the friendliest islands in Croatia. As early as June, water temperatures of up to 26 degrees attract water lovers to a campsite on the beach of Krk. In mild weather, swimmers can even take a dip in the sea in October. Beach holidaymakers and water sports enthusiasts will find a true paradise along the 219 km of coastline. Baška in the south-east is known for its family-friendly beaches, and the water only gradually gets deeper in the beautiful bay. There is also a wide range of water sports to keep you entertained: you can speed through the water on a jet ski, surf and hire kayaks and pedalos. When camping by the sea on Krk in the north-east, families can often be found on the sandy Pecine beach, which flies the Blue Flag. Divers are attracted by the sunken Greek ship Peltastis, which lies on the seabed off the coast.
It's not just bathers and water sports enthusiasts who have a good time on Krk, there are also countless worthwhile destinations for hikers. The well-developed network of paths is around 400 kilometres long and leads active travellers along the fascinating coast or into the hilly hinterland. Nature lovers will be impressed, for example, by the 18 km long tour starting in Baška to the Kuntrep bird sanctuary, where, with a little luck, mighty griffon vultures with a wingspan of 3 km can be seen along the way. From the destination of Vrbnik, you return to Baška by public bus. There is also a well-developed network of paths along the charming bay of Malinska. A 12 km circular route from Sveti Vid leads northwards along the sea. Return to the starting point along the panoramic Paradise Trail.
Interesting events on Krk give an exciting insight into the island's culture and regional cuisine.
